Trustees Corner
The Concord Township Trustees hope that all residents have enjoyed a healthy and safe beginning to 2021. The COVID-19 crisis has created some unique challenges and we are proud of our residents for following the established guidelines in order to keep everyone safe. 
      
We are excited about the future and the upcoming projects of the township. The Fire Stations project is moving forward. In fact, we are currently reviewing updated schematics as we wind down the Design Development phase and begin to move into the construction-drawing phase. We encourage residents to watch the discussion held at our last meeting regarding the project. We continue to work hard and focus on keeping our community well informed. Please tune in to our future meetings (Held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7:30 pm) for updates about the fire stations and other important topics.
 
January has flown by and spring will soon be upon us. We look forward to sunny days and outdoor gatherings that bring family and friends together. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

ISO Class 3
Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO) is an independent company that serves insurance companies, communities, fire departments, insurance regulators and others by providing information about risk. ISO’s expert staff collects information about municipal fire suppression efforts in communities throughout the United States. In each of those communities, ISO analyzes the relevant data and assigns a PPC grade – a number from 1 to 10. 

Class 1 represents an exemplary fire suppression program, and Class 10 indicates that the area’s fire suppression program does not meet ISO’s minimum criteria. Insurance companies use PPC information for marketing, underwriting and to help establish fair premiums for homeowners and commercial fire insurance.

In 2020, ISO evaluated Concord Township Fire Department. We are pleased to announce that effective May 1, 2021 our ISO score will be 03/3Y. This is an improvement over our present 4/4Y rating obtained in 2016. Insurance companies use ISO ratings for marketing, underwriting and to help establish fair premiums for homeowners and commercial fire insurance.

The Service Department would like to thank the residents for their patience and cooperation during the snowplow season. The Service Department continues to monitor the weather daily to ensure our crews are ready to respond when the snow flies. 

As we look forward to Spring our crews are busy maintaining equipment and preparing for the upcoming construction season. Other duties performed in the Service Department are cold patching of potholes, installation of mailbox snow barricades and mailbox repairs. The Snow Barricade Program is still available to residents for a $40.00 charge. Information for the snow barricades can be found on the Concord Township website.

Under Construction

The Concord Cemetery will be busy with the start of the 1965 expansion. A temporary road has been installed by our Service Department and Dash Tree Service will be removing marked trees for the expansion. This expansion will provide much needed burial lots. The project is anticipated to be completed in Spring of 2023.

We are currently looking for family history in the Concord Cemetery on State Route 608 and the Stickney Cemetery on Route 86. If you have any information we would love to hear from you! Please email kwarner@concordtwp.com

Celebrate Concord Township: Where History Never Grows Old
Concord Township will celebrate its 199th Birthday on March 8, 2021. In celebration of this year leading up to our Bicentennial year in 2022, we will share pictures of Concord history each month. If you have pictures of life in Concord Township throughout the decades that you want to share, please send them to Recreation@concordtwp.com.

Concord's Best Snowman Contest
Looks like we'll have plenty of opportunities to build snowmen this Winter! Build your best snowman and enter it in Concord's BEST Snowman Contest by February 28! Just snap a photo of you and your snowman and follow the instructions on the entry form at https://concordtwp.com/departments/recreation/. Online voting begins March 4-14 and winners will be announced after March 15.

Coming in 2021: Images of America, Concord Township, Lake County Ohio

You've seen them at the grocery store and in bookstores. Many other communities already have them. Now Concord Township will have one of its own! An Images of America Book on Concord Township has been in the works for over 2 years and will be available in 2021 for purchase. Rich in Concord history, every page features pictures of Concord founders, pioneer families, farms and so much more. Many of the images are directly from local families with deep roots in our community. Thanks to all who answered the call to provide family histories and pictures!
