Legislative Report:
The legislature session is winding down. CFM is watching the following bills:
|
HCB 1
HB 1237
HB 260
HJR 18
HB 260, the poaching bill, was passed by the Senate this week with an amendment. It will go back to the House to accept the change.
We are watching
HCB 1 and HB 1237 closely. The amendments added to these bills would require the state to sell Eleven Point State Park.
Contact your Senator and thank them for voting for HB 260 and ask them to oppose HCB 1 and HB 1237.
These are not all the bills CFM is monitoring.

It was standing room only for the HJR 18 hearing held this week. Thank you to all the CFM affiliates and members that came to show their opposition for HJR 18. It was also a great learning opportunity for our CLC students.

Lyme Disease - Know the Signs
|
With spring weather upon us and everyone spending more time in the outdoors, it's important to remember to check for ticks when you come back inside. Lyme disease is a real threat that shouldn't be taken lightly. Every year, up to three million people develop the disease in the United States, and a large amount of people suffering from it never realized that Lyme is the cause of their health problems.

Certified Wildlife Habitat ®
|
Recognize your commitment to wildlife and certify your yard, balcony container garden, schoolyard, work landscape or roadside green space into a
Certified Wildlife Habitat®.
By creating a natural garden with native plants, you are providing essential elements of wildlife habitat: food, water, cover and a place for wildlife to raise their young. Add a water source - such as a birdbath - and follow sustainable gardening practices, and your garden will not only be wildlife-friendly, but it will qualify as a National Wildlife Federation Certified Wildlife Habitat®.
