We wish you all a happy, healthy year ahead. We are looking forward to our continued work with our chapters, member organizations and champions in supporting and advocating for parents and families of children and youth
who have mental health and substance use challenges.
In honor of the new year, we invite you all to join us on Facebook in sharing intentions and resolutions you have made to improve your own mental health or
that of your child(ren) and family. Let's share our ideas there around family peer support, advocacy, self-care and more that can benefit everyone!

National Core Competencies Update
Launch of New Title and Application Process
Over the last two years, the NFFCMH has been working to update and revise the core competencies for national certification of the parent peer support workforce. The results of that work include a new title,
Certified Family Peer Specialist
, and more broadly defined core competency areas that reflect knowledge and skills needed for the provision of high-quality parent peer support in the field today. We are excited to share that the national certification application process will launch on our website by the end of this month.

Children's Mental Health Awareness Week
As many of you know, SAMSHA has made the decision to not host a national event for Children's Mental Health Awareness Week (CMHAW) in 2020. As CMHAW originated with the National Federation, we will be reclaiming our role and leading the campaign this year. Later this month, please look for our announcement of a national theme and more information about our plans to support your CMHAW efforts and events taking place in your states and communities. We look forward to celebrating CMHAW with you all!
