Hannah Stinson, AGH Energy Equity Program Manager, is currently in South Dakota visiting two firewood bank programs on the Pine Ridge Reservation. Are you thinking of starting a firewood bank and plan to deliver 5 or more cords of wood? Are you an existing firewood bank that has never received funding from AGH? APPLY NOW.


2024-2025 "Renewal" Grants


Renewal grants up to $10,000 are available for firewood banks that previously received AGH funding if they fall within the following categories:

Forest Mitigation Scraps Turned Community Resource



This article features a possible 2024-2025 Firewood Bank Assistance Program Start-up Bank grantee: Alpine Forestry, a land management company. They are currently looking for a non-profit to be the fiscal sponsor and community partner for the grant.

Midcoast Wood Bank to Hold Open House as Weather Cools



"The all-volunteer group will be discussing its wood bank and the new network of established and new 'wood banks in a box.'"


The firewood bank has also invited their local fire department to lead education on wood heat safe practices. On top of that, they'll be hosting a chainsaw maintenance and safety clinic.

Chimney Safety Awareness Week


September 2-9th was Chimney Safety Awareness Week. The goal of the week is to teach people about chimney and venting safety. A majority of chimney fires go undetected, with the leading cause of these fires being the build up of creosote inside the chimney.
