News in the New Year
Dear Friends,
I thought I’d use my column this week to communicate some updates and new information as we begin 2025
Pastoral Associate for Administration
Karen Laroche has done a wonderful job as our Parish Administrator for over five years. As our church grows and changes, her role and responsibilities have also. This is especially true of her ministry in 2024. These changes have been most pronounced in her management of community life and our church yard. As Meaghan and I live into our partnership and share ministry with Karen, we recognize that Karen is an essential part of our pastoral team. In recognition of her important ministry and with her approval, we have changed her title and increased her weekly hours to full time. Please join me in thanking her for the job well done as Parish Administrator and for her continuing commitment as the Pastoral Associate. She is a gift to St. Mary’s.
Rectory Kitchen Update
In September the rectory kitchen and dining room were completely gutted. Walls, windows and doors have changed. The openings between rooms and hallways are widened. Electric, plumbing, and floors have been updated. There have been a few delays as is often the case, but next week the reconstruction will resume and hopefully be completed soon. You can join me in praying for this! The cabinetry will arrive Monday and from there the other pieces will come together. Thank you to John Corbishley who has done a wonderful job in coordinating this major renovation project. Soon I will be able to resume hosting St. Mary’s gatherings in a beautiful and updated space. I am incredibly grateful to all who have supported this effort and accomplishment.
Annual Meeting February 2, 11:15
If you are a member of St. Mary’s, please join us to celebrate the year past, give thanks for the leaders who are retiring or continuing to serve, elect new leaders and take a look at the upcoming year’s budget. If you are a friend of St. Mary’s, you are welcome to come to the meeting, with a voice but not voting privileges. Thank you to Murry Edwards and Nancy Kimble for compiling, editing, and publishing our Annual Reports for 2024. If you are a leader who has been asked to write a report, we thank you for sending them in according to Murry’s deadlines!
Baptism this Sunday
It is the feast of the Baptism of our Lord, and we will be welcoming Austin Palikiko into the household of God. Please pray for Austin and his parents as we celebrate this holy sacrament and the beginning of his life in the body of
Christ.
Faithfully, Jennifer
