Happy 4th of July!

On July 4, 2025, America celebrates its 249th Independence Day commemorating the founding of our country and the freedoms we hold dear. On this day in 1776, thirteen colonies united to form the United States and the Declaration of Independence was signed.

While we celebrate with our loved ones at parades, fireworks, or picnics, please remember the courageous men and women who serve to protect our freedom. The freedoms we enjoy are made possible by the service of our deployed soldiers, for whom we are extremely grateful.

On Independence Day, we honor not only our nation's history but also its strength and unity. Best wishes for a joyous, safe, and meaningful Fourth of July!

Korean War Veterans Armistice Day

July 27 is Korean War Veterans Armistice Day, a day to honor the men and women who served in the Korean War and remember the 1953 armistice that ended the fighting.

The day serves as a time to reflect on the sacrifices made by Korean War veterans and their families, and to recognize their bravery, strength, and service in one of the most difficult times in American history. Veterans of the war are often referred to as the "Forgotten War" veterans and they deserve gratitude for their dedication and the freedoms still enjoyed today.

Anna Mae Robertson served in the 6888th Battalion during World War II, the only battalion of Black women to serve abroad during the war. Leaders in Milwaukee, Robertson's adopted hometown, are advocating for the honor of the veteran who died in May at the age of 101.

Sponsor Spotlight

At Stantec, we create opportunity by inviting, embracing, and celebrating differences. This includes a commitment to supporting those who serve or have served, and their families. Collectively, we foster a culture where everyone can bring their whole selves to work in an environment that is welcoming, accepting, safe, supportive, and free of judgement.

We provide resources to our Veterans as they transition from the public sector into the private consulting business, while actively encouraging open dialogue and support for all employees and families. We have enhanced our recruitment practices to include a job search option based on a military job or code and launched a Military and Veteran Advocate (MAVA) Employee Resource Group (ERG). Our nation is our community—and Veterans and their families are an important part of that community.
