Support for the Hello Girls Congressional Gold Medal Act Needed
Your support for the "Hello Girls", America's women soldiers of World War I who served as switchboard operators on the front lines, is needed in advocating for a Gold Congressional Medal to honor their service.

The World War I Centennial Commission has provided a convenient link for endorsing support, which can be easily shared with others. Below is the link, which offers an overview of the Hello Girls and the bills in both the Senate and House of Representatives. By scrolling down and clicking on their respective state tab, individuals can access the names of the Hello Girls from that state. The link provides the names of senators and representatives, by state. By clicking on their names, users are directed to their web pages. Sample letters are available for copying and pasting, or customization if desired. Help in spreading the word and encouraging action for this effort.
The U.S. military needed skilled operators to handle the telephones in World War I. Known as the "Hello Girls", 226 U.S. women served in the Signal Corps Telephone Operator unit. Some worked near the front lines with Gen. John "Black Jack" Pershing, the top U.S. commander. Here, Gen Pershing inspects the Signal Corps Telephone Operator unit in 1918.
