State Aviation Day is Scheduled for April 2
The Missouri aviation community will be meeting in the Capitol on April 2 to participate in State Aviation Day. This year’s event marks thirteen years in which all segments of the aviation industry have converged on Jefferson City in order to meet with their legislators. From 9 in the morning until 2 in the afternoon airport managers, pilots, technicians, consultants, and business owners will be circulating in the capitol in the third floor Rotunda area. 
Lee's Summit Municipal Airport Honored for Engineering Excellence
The City received three Honor Awards at the 2019 Engineering Excellence Awards including one for improvements made to the Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport.

The City collaborated with Crawford, Murphy & Tilly to help position the Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport as a new gateway to the Kansas City metro. The project included an expansion of the main runway from 4,016 feet to 5,501 feet. The main runway was also widened to 100 feet. These enhancements allow heavier corporate aircraft to take off and land at the airport.

What are your day-to-day job duties at the airport?
I tow and fuel aircraft as needed. I also perform fuel and equipment inspections at the airport.
Why did you decide to work at the Lee's Summit Municipal Airport?

I like airplanes and aviation. I enjoy that no day is the same.
What do you like most about your job?
My favorite part about working at the airport would be the fact that I'm in the middle of the excitement. There is never a dull moment.
Do you have a pilot's license? If not, do you plan to get one?
Yes, I have a pilot license.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Outside of working at the airport, I am learning card trick magic.

Is There Room at the Inn?
Lee's Summit Municipal Airport accommodates overnight ramp stays and enclosed nightly or long-term stays.
The airport has 111 hangars/hangar units for lease with sizes that vary from single-engine units to those big enough to accommodate a medium-size cabin class aircraft. The airport also owns Hangar 1, a 40,000-square-feet heated hangar, that has 200 x 200 feet space available to lease for a medium-size corporate jet aircraft.
