It's that time again! The Lee's Summit Municipal Airport is needing volunteers!

Open House | June 22

Duties would include but aren't limited to:
  • Driving Golf Carts
  • Conducting Surveys
  • Clean Up

Do you know a high school student needing community service? Great, we can help. Students can receive up to 10 hours of community service.

What are your day-to-day job duties at the airport?
At the airport I assist with aircraft refueling, parking and day-to-day operations of the airport.
Why did you decide to work at the Lee's Summit Municipal Airport?
I have been flying with my dad here since I was eight years old and it's become a second home for me.
What do you like most about your job?
I enjoy meeting pilots of different aircraft types and learning about how they got to where they are today.
Do you have a pilots license? If not, do you plan to get one?
I am a professional pilot major at UCM and have my private check ride scheduled for next week.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy backpacking with my family in Colorado.

Is There Room at the Inn?
Lee's Summit Municipal Airport accommodates overnight ramp stays and enclosed nightly or long-term stays .
The airport has 111 hangars/hangar units for lease with sizes that vary from single-engine units to those big enough to accommodate a medium-size cabin class aircraft. The airport also owns Hangar 1, a 40,000-square-feet heated hangar, that has 200 x 200 feet space available to lease for a medium-size corporate jet aircraft.
