FOCUS OF THE MONTH

Medi-Cal Eligibility Changes Coming January 1st, 2026

Starting in 2026, undocumented immigrants with inactive Medi-Cal, or those who let coverage lapse during the 2026 year, will lose eligibility for full-scope Medi-Cal, except children ages 0–18 and pregnant individuals.

However, those enrolled before January 1, 2026 can carry coverage into the new year, while anyone with a 2026 renewal date must renew before their coverage lapses to remain eligible.

To help case managers and participants navigate these changes, we
created together an informative bilingual tip sheet that provides more details and resources.

What's Inside the new tip sheet?

  • Detailed Overview of Policy Changes
  • Data Privacy Facts & List of Info Required for Medi-Cal Application/Renewal
  • Visual Workflow for Monitoring/Renewing Medi-Cal Coverage
  • Breakdown of Benefits Offered Under Full-Scope Medi-Cal

We hope this tip sheet helps you and your participant(s) navigate the renewal/enrollment process! Thank you for your incredible work!
