Art at the Library

Art Quilts Maine will be on display March 15-May 31.

The mission of Art Quilts Maine is to support members in their exploration of contemporary quilt art, to inspire creativity and individuality, and to promote the understanding, appreciation, and recognition of contemporary quilters in the state of Maine. Each year members of Art Quilts Maine produce work which travels Maine for the year. Anyone interested in learning more about the tour, inquiring about purchasing a piece, or hosting an exhibit may contact Art Quilts Maine at ranaquilts@gmail.com. The two themes for year’s exhibit are 1) Creative Circles, Rings and Curves with 14 art quilts depicting circles, spirals, moons and curves and 2) Tradition Re-Imagined with 14 pieces depicting a traditional quilt block in a unique way. These pieces are inspired by blocks such as Log cabin, Dresden plate, Irish chain, and Storm at Sea to name a few! Definitely ‘Not my Grandmother’s Garden’ as one artist named her work. Come see if you can relate each quilt to the block that inspired it!
