Food Fix: A Mindfulness Series on Food

Wednesdays through Dec. 27, 10:00-11:00am

Join Sue Young in this 10-week workshop on the thoughts, emotions and actions that might need investigating in order to create a more permanent FOOD FIX. Her book by that name will provide the backbone of your discoveries together. To help the library in their fundraising efforts, FOOD FIX is for sale for $20.00 at each class.

Build a Story

November 10th, 10:30-11:30am

Children's Programming Room

Ages 4-8

Build a Story is a program where the little hands (4-8 years old) read a story while building an element of the story. Motivating read-alouds provide framework for this introduction to manual woodworking tools.

Kids 4-8 are invited to join us every 2nd Friday of the month for this program! Parents must stay with their children at all times. Registration is required and is limited to 10 participants each month. Register here.

We work with the National Digital Equity Center of Maine to provide in-person technology classes to the Falmouth community. Our November class is MacOS Intermediate.

Picturing Maine’s Indigenous Context: Colonialism and the Penobscot

November 18th, 2:00-3:00pm

This illustrated lecture uses the recent removal of the Gomez Memorial in Bangor and four works of art to reconsider how we understand colonialism in the lower Penobscot river and bay as well as the experiences of Penobscot people and their nation. Liam Riordan is a member of Bangor's Historic Preservation Commission. This event is co-sponsored by the Falmouth Historical Society.

Four sisters learn about love, life, and loss as they grow through their young womanhood against the backdrop of post-Civil War America. At the heart of the family is the headstrong Jo who aspires, above all else, to forge her own path.

The Indian Kitchen: A Crossroads of Many Cultures: A Camden Conference Community Event

November 28th, 3:00-4:00pm

The Indian Kitchen and its great varieties represent the richness of the Indian sub-continent. The spread of Indian cooking globally reveals the social and demographic impact of Indians worldwide. This presentation will provide a perspective on the origin of the Indian kitchen geographically and historically and offer a tasted of Indian cooking via a local Indian restaurateur from the Indian restaurants in Portland.

Drop in after the early release from school to make holiday-themed crafts at November's Youth Services Holiday Atelier! Salt dough will be available for kids to make ornaments (not GF).

ONLY the following nonperishable items are gratefully accepted: pasta/sauce, NON-sugary cereals, oatmeal, canned goods (fruit, veggies, beans, tuna, chicken, non-condensed broth-based soups), granola bars, and baby wipes.
