St. Matthew Lutheran Church & Early
Childhood Center will be participating in the LCMS Northern Illinois District’s
district-wide servant event “SHINE”. Throughout the district, groups of 2 or more people are asked to give witness to the love of Jesus through acts of service to their neighbors and communities. The district wide event runs from April 14-23.
The St. Matthew Comfort Dog Ministry, Sharing the Joy Ministry and The Board of Evangelism have put a SHINE event in place that everyone in the congregation and the Early Childhood Center can participate in. We are excited to get things started and witness the acts of love we give to others.
St. Matthew is ready to SHINE with Cedar Lake Assisted Living & Memory Care in Lake Zurich. Cedar Lake currently has 100 residents that live in the assisted living and memory care areas. The events that have been put together will be open for every resident and staff member. In order to make our SHINE events a success, we need your help by participating in an event or giving a donation towards an event.

EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER
It was a busy week at St. Matthew Early Childhood Center. In the 4 year old classroom, the children continued to explore habitats. The focus this week was on the ocean. The children created puffer fish and jellyfish art. They used their scientific skills to investigate seashells. The 3 year old classroom continued to explore transportation. They took a closer look at maps and different ways to get around the world. We had a very special visit from the Lake County Forest Preserve. During this interactive in-house field trip, the children learned about reptiles and amphibians. During Jesus Time, the children discovered the story about Jonah and the Big Fish. Thank you to everyone who supported our school during the Culver’s Fundraiser!
