Opportunities to Take Action
Forest Hill Farmers: Learning Garden & Composting | Parent Survey
We have applied for a grant with the Germantown Education Foundation to be used to install an outdoor learning garden/classroom area located between the lake and District Office. If approved, the funds would also establish a composting operation which would turn fruit and vegetable scraps into nutrient-rich soil amendments for the garden area. The garden area would have a number of raised beds for planting, and other crops would be planted directly in the ground. Ideally, we would have a large sundial as the focal point with a classroom gathering area inside the fenced-in garden area.

We are looking for feedback from our FHES families and Germantown community residents on how this addition to our school would benefit students' learning, and/or our Germantown community. Also, since being a new school on a strict budget, we are looking for feedback on how the community would be willing to help.

We greatly appreciate you taking a few minutes to provide some feedback.  Please click here to complete the short survey.

Thank you for your participation! - Jon House & Kaitlin Sullivan (FHES teachers)

Proposed Land Swap Update
We want you to be aware of an important issue that will directly affect our school. Last Wednesday, Germantown Parks & Recreation Commissioners agreed to give up 24+ acres of Houston Levee Park to GMSD. In exchange, GMSD would have to give the parks commission 15 acres of land behind Forest Hill Elementary.

The next step is the Germantown Board of Mayor and Alderman will vote at their meeting TOMORROW on Monday, Jan. 13 at 6:00pm.

For any questions or concerns regarding this proposed land swap, please contact the Board of Mayor and Alderman and the Board of Education.
