Many of you that have driven by the school recently may have noticed a rezoning sign and wondered what was going on?
As you may recall, a land swap was approved that saw GMSD get the park behind Houston HS, the water tower that was planned for the school get moved close to the RR tracks and a developer, John Duke, get 3 acres of land behind the new administration building.
The 3 acres that went to John Duke were zoned RE-1 and he applied to change that to R zoning. As part of the rezoning process in Germantown, a sign is now placed alerting the public to a zoning change. That was the sign that you may have seen. The Planning Commission voted to approve this on Tuesday night and it will move to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen for final approval.
