First-Day Safety Tips from Mr. Percoski, Principal
Hello FHES families!

I just wanted to send a quick note as we begin the year in our new school. I am extremely excited to start the process of building our culture, traditions, and sense of community. Our goal is to create a truly unique experience for each of our students.

The faculty and staff of Forest Hill Elementary have spent countless hours preparing for tomorrow and the year ahead. I see and feel a sense of pride in their work and know that your children will be the beneficiaries of this hard working, dedicated group of people.

We feel like we have a great plan for the first week of school. However, we obviously have not tested our plans with a full set of students and parents. Please bear with us as we tweak our processes and procedures to ensure the safest, most efficient operation possible.

Thank you in advance for your support this year. Having a highly effective school relies on partnerships among the faculty and staff, students, parents, and community. There will be times when we reach out for assistance, and we hope you are comfortable doing the same. Our doors are always open if you have questions, concerns or suggestions. Feel free to contact us if there is anything we can do.

To ensure everyone's safety, please note the following vehicle tips:
Vehicle Safety for the First Week of School
If you would like to park and come inside, you can parallel park on the outside (or right lane), closest to the curb and grass. If you would like to remain in your car and drop off, keep moving in the outside (or left lane).

We will first use the parking lot in the rear of the school. Once that lot is full, we will use the outside lane of the drive around the school. This is the lane closest to the trees and grass and farthest from the school all the way around.

The left lane will need to remain open for traffic to exit the premises. PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE CIRCULAR LANE CLOSEST TO FOREST HILL IRENE. This is a fire lane and must remain clear.

You will be allowed to walk your students to class this first week, but we will stop this after the first week. At that point, students will be asked to walk into the building independently. There will be plenty of assistance to help them find their way!

Kindergarten parents will be able to walk your students to class on their Stagger Start Day and Monday through Wednesday of the week of August 19. This option still has students and parents crossing moving traffic, which is why this is for special circumstances and events only. This will not be an option on a regular basis, so please accompany your child.
Traffic Flow Map
Arrival and Dismissal During the School Year
Our focus is always on safety first and foremost. In the interest of safety, we will only offer three options for arrival and dismissal at this time.

We would like for you to either choose for your students to 1) ride the district bus, 2) a daycare bus, or 3)to be dropped off and picked up in a car.

Right now, with the continued construction both on our campus and on Forest Hill Irene, we do not feel there are safe routes on and off our campus for walkers and bike riders or down Forest Hill Irene either direction.

Thank you in advance with your cooperation as we look to keep our Foxes safe and sound!

To all our Foxes, have a fantastic first day!

Mr. Percoski, FHES Principal

FHES Helping Hands is looking for 9-week volunteers
The FHES PTO Board wants to give  all  parents and friends of FHES the opportunity to be involved and serve our school in a variety of ways and times. That's why we've created Forest Hill Helping Hands.

Sign up for a 9-week stint of being "on call" for whatever help is needed at the school. When something comes up, an email will be sent to this committee asking if you can help out. "Help" could include anything from moving furniture to donating food for an event.

In order to avoid volunteer fatigue, and since some seasons of life are busier than others, we will create a new Helping Hands list each 9 weeks. Feel free to sign up more than once!

Email Melissa Salazar to sign up!
