The Freedom To Be Flexible
|
|
As Ferris Bueller once said, 'life comes at you pretty fast,' and honestly that statement has never felt more true than now. Don't be afraid to stop, take a deep breath, and rearrange your day-to-day schedule as you adjust to this new normal.
That's the true beauty of homeschooling: Your homeschooling plan can expand or be streamlined as needed throughout the year. A flexible approach to homeschooling helps to maintain your enjoyment of school and to mitigate stress, especially in times such as these.

College Counseling Update
It's an unprecedented, bizarre world out there. Still, for many of you, this is also the end of a long wait for college admissions decisions. Here's hoping you get the decisions you wish!
Our college counselor, KD Maynard, wanted to pass along a few tips and updates, with the caveat that things may continue to change:
- May 1st is the traditional 'Common Reply Date,' the day by which students have been held to making their decisions about where they will attend. This year, some institutions are pushing that date into June or even later — make sure you know what dates you're working with.
- On-campus visits, accepted student days, etc. have been pretty much shut down. Many schools will be providing virtual opportunities and reaching out online. Stay on top of your email!
- You are entitled to have full information on financial assistance from all of your acceptance offers BEFORE you make your final decisions. Scrutinize financial aid packages carefully!
Colleges are bracing for the unknown, and may stretch admissions/enrollment periods into the summer, with some urgency. Be clear on your priorities, advocate for yourself, and make your decisions based on what is best for you.
