Prepping for the Pitch:
New Venture Competition
by Zejin Guo

The final New Venture Competition workshop of “How to Deliver a Pitch and Deal with Q&A” was  held on April 19 at Paul Merage School of Business. It was led by the UCI ANTrepreneur Center's Executive Director, David Ochi and Larry Wilk, a judge of NVC.

All NVC participants should be prepared to give a 12 minute presentation, followed by an 8 minute question and answer session. To help participants  prepare for the final presentation on May 12, Larry introduced what should be done before the pitch and how to prepare for the Q&A session.

David then presented that what to notice during the pitch: for example, the way to answer the challenging questions from the judges. He also gave examples of what should be included in a PowerPoint and put it together with Q&A session.

Blasting off at Launchpad Thursdays!

Launchpad Thursday had a great start to the new quarter with Mike Genchev. Mike, a UCI alumnus and a successful entrepreneur, is the founder of Olympia Training Center and gym that offers martial arts for youth. He is currently working on a startup, Volcano Bottle. Volcano Bottle is a water bottle that dispenses liquid supplements.  We are all excited to check it out once he launches his product. We  had a wonderful conversation about becoming an entrepreneur during college, and enjoyed hearing about his entrepreneurial journey.
