Building Soil, Planting Seeds, Growing Youth

January was a month of growing. We've been blown away by the support and number of people who have come out to help at the farm over the past month. Rob Greenfield and his team getting to know and work with us, the success of our first annual MLK Day of Service, establishing our Community Workdays, and more!

Our Youth Ambassadors have been continuing to spread mulch, lay the foundation for our gathering space, and plant in our newly made beds!
We have a lot going on and we always welcome the community to grow with us.
MLK Day of Service & Community Workday!
We had our first annual MLK Day of Service with guests Congressman Charlie Christ, Senator Darryl Rouson, House Representative Michele Rayner, City Councilmember Brandi Gabbard, Bay Area Dream Defenders, Environmental Activist Rob Greenfield, Chair of the FL Food Policy Council Erica Hall, along with 80+ volunteers!

It was a beautiful day of honoring Dr. King's legacy, and we are so grateful for the people who took time to spend their day in service of the community.
We also held our Community Workday on the last Saturday of January with 30 participants at the farm. This allowed us to continue creating beds with a total of 14 ready to get planting in, spread mulch, and engaged with new faces!

We will continue to extend this opportunity for people who would like to come out and help.

Upcoming Events & Volunteer Opportunities
St. Pete Youth Farm Black History Month Workday
We'll be hosting a workday at the farm in celebration of Black History Month. Let's celebrate the richness of Black History and remember the Black Farmers and Inventors that revolutionized growing food, from George Washington-Carver to Henry Blair.

Join us on February 27th at our 12th Street Farm site by Enoch Davis.
If you're interested in helping set up or break down at the event, sign up here.
St. Pete Youth Farm Women's History Month Workday
We invite everyone to come out on the last Saturday of the month to check out the progress on the farm, volunteer, and gather with purpose.
Next month let's come together to acknowledge and celebrate women in our community that make a difference in growing and providing nutritional food. Their wealth of knowledge and love for community is invaluable.

"Come Grow With Us!"
If you'd like to volunteer, take a moment to fill out our volunteer engagement survey. As we're moving forward in our projects we want to establish a strong volunteer base and connect with people who'd like to provide the support we need.

We're still collecting surveys on what to grow too, so please take a moment to share your input if you haven't already.

Thank you!
