Happy New Year from St. Pete Youth Farm!
Highlights of 2020
2020 was quite the year for everyone, and it was no different for us here at St. Pete Youth Farm. There were many hurdles faced early on but we managed to make the best out of what was a difficult situation.
Here are just a few of our accomplishments from last year:
  • One of the first programs to transition to online after COVID lockdown

  • 800+ Brown Bag Care Packages distributed to the local houseless population
  • Launched our website in the Summer and social media in the Fall
  • Won $25k Ford Foundation grant partnered with USF St. Pete campus
  • Hydroponic greenhouse farming
  • Held first community visioning day at 12th Street Farm site in Nov 2020
  • 2000+ lbs of fresh produce distributed in South St. Pete in response to COVID
  • 200lbs harvested from our garden at Pinellas Technical College
  • Assisted in the 3 months of FREE Breakfast Saturdays at Atwaters BBQ
  • Youth created 300+ Kindness Cards for Senior citizens in quarantine
  • 200+ civic engagement hours completed through the program
  • $30k in contributions along with over $20k of in-kind donations

And we're so excited for more!
Find out ways to get involved below.
Our first Kwanzaa at the Farm!
We held the First Day of Kwanzaa at our 12th Street Farm site, hosted by Gallerie 909, and it was a true event of unity. It made sense to bring people together in this space and we foresee many events like this taking place on the site. Make sure to follow us on Facebook or Instagram, or keep an eye out for future newsletters on other events. Check out our next upcoming event below!
New Projects/Partnerships in Fruition
Rob Greenfield, environmental activist and humanitarian, stopped by for a visit to our 12 Street Farm site over the holidays. He and his team will be working with us over the next 3 months to help us get our garden growing. We are so incredibly excited and looking forward to working together!
Haven't fill out our community survey? We're still taking responses on what to grow. This year will be all about getting this project up and running and working with some awesome individuals along the way.
