Earth Month at the Youth Farm!
Earth Day Proclamation presented to St. Pete Youth Farm
St. Pete Youth Farm hopes you had an amazing Earth Day! We want to thank everyone who was able to make it to our 2nd Annual Earth Day Celebration and First Movie Night at the Farm. We had hot dogs, cotton candy, and popcorn for all our guests. We also had honey tasting from Noble Nectar Apiaries. We premiered the USF Urban Food Sovereignty Group’s short film on St. Pete Youth Farm as well as the documentary The Pollinators in our excitement and preparation in having bees at the farm. We were presented the Earth Day Proclamation at City Hall thanks to honorable Mayor Ken Welch and Council Member Brandi Gabbard too!
We want to thank Council Member Richie Floyd, our USF partners Winnie Mullah Achollah and Professor William Schanbacher, St. Petersburg Parks & Recreation for getting us the movie screen and setting it up for us, Noble Nectar Apiaries for providing honey tastings for our guests, Lucinda Johnson for all the St. Pete Earth Day shirts, blow up globes and Earth Day flag, our volunteer Sandy Mabery, as well as our Youth Ambassadors for their continued leadership and the community at large for coming out!
We were grateful to have two new tree benches built this month, one by Henry (right), who also built two awesome shelves for our shed, as well as Zulu Painter (below) who build us a bench and stage! Thank you both so much for helping us create a space for all to enjoy.

Come out this Saturday (April 30th from 9am to 12pm) for our Community Workday on Global Youth Service Day. We are welcoming all groups of youth (big and small) to join us in a day of service. This is the largest youth service and civic action event in the world - be one of the millions participating!

Help us reach our Earth Month goal of 3,000 seedlings planted - volunteers welcome to take some home too!
We also had two AMAZING group volunteers this past month. We had 20 high school students from Shore Crest spend 3 days in service at the farm sharing an unforgettable experience. As well as another group of 20 from the company Fanatics come out for National Volunteer Day (Global Impact Day) to give back to the community and do some team building after working remotely over the past couple years. Contact us if you'd like to bring your group or business to the farm.
We have plenty of volunteer opportunities coming up, our 3 year anniversary, and we have one month left of Spring programming~

Applications still open for youth, see below #TogetherWeGrow

Youth Farm Has Electricity!
We have power! St. Pete Youth Farm finally has electricity. Right now we have our shed connected and powered. We're now able to charge our weed whacker batteries, plug in our water dispenser, and have wired tools to get more built at the farm.

The electric company will be powering out our Greenhouse soon and this will get us on track to having a functional hydroponics and aquaponics system installed and running in the coming months.
