GREETINGS FROM DR. G
Your children are at the heart of all we do at St. Rose School and they shine wherever they go. This week I was delighted to receive accolades from the Principals at Immaculate and Fairfield Prep in regard to our 8th grade students who, they said, are high caliber on all fronts: academics, interpersonal skills and well roundedness. God has truly blessed each of these students with unique gifts and, as we always say, it is through teamwork and an ongoing partnership with parents that we help every student reach their God given potential. Congratulations to our students, teachers and parents for these high marks. The future is bright!
Where does it all begin? In Preschool! St. Rose has a thriving Preschool program for 3, 4 and early 5 year olds. Under the guidance of nurturing teachers, young children are introduced to a world of discoveries, learning social, emotional, motor and cognitive skills that build a strong foundation. Many of our current 8th graders started at St. Rose in Preschool. It is our hope and prayer that all of our Preschool families continue the learning journey with us. On Monday January 13th and Tuesday January 14th Preschool parents are invited to a Q & A session with Mrs. Rahtelli, our Kindergarten teacher, and Mrs. Mok, our Admissions Director. Please join them as you consider next steps. I know the Preschool children have enjoyed spending time with the Kindergarten students this year. And they are always excited to see their older Buddies for various school activities. The Buddy program is such a special aspect of the Preschool - 8th grade environment that makes a lasting impact on students long after leaving our halls. If you have questions, email Mrs. Mok, admissions@srles.com.
The chilly winter days had a brief impact on the Gathering Hall heating system this week. Fortunately, this did not affect the flow of our school days, we simply pivoted to plan B in which students went directly to their classrooms in the morning and also ate lunch there. Today the parts were delivered and the issue is resolved. Please be assured that student safety is our top priority and in situations like these we follow internal protocol which is to alert the landlord (St. Rose Parish) and ensure that the students are safe. This was assessed and accomplished. If there are any further issues with the heat in the Gathering Hall that impact the flow of the school day I will let you know.
