GREETINGS FROM DR. G

Your children are at the heart of all we do at St. Rose School and they shine wherever they go. This week I was delighted to receive accolades from the Principals at Immaculate and Fairfield Prep in regard to our 8th grade students who, they said, are high caliber on all fronts: academics, interpersonal skills and well roundedness. God has truly blessed each of these students with unique gifts and, as we always say, it is through teamwork and an ongoing partnership with parents that we help every student reach their God given potential. Congratulations to our students, teachers and parents for these high marks. The future is bright!

Where does it all begin? In Preschool! St. Rose has a thriving Preschool program for 3, 4 and early 5 year olds. Under the guidance of nurturing teachers, young children are introduced to a world of discoveries, learning social, emotional, motor and cognitive skills that build a strong foundation. Many of our current 8th graders started at St. Rose in Preschool. It is our hope and prayer that all of our Preschool families continue the learning journey with us. On Monday January 13th and Tuesday January 14th Preschool parents are invited to a Q & A session with Mrs. Rahtelli, our Kindergarten teacher, and Mrs. Mok, our Admissions Director. Please join them as you consider next steps. I know the Preschool children have enjoyed spending time with the Kindergarten students this year. And they are always excited to see their older Buddies for various school activities. The Buddy program is such a special aspect of the Preschool - 8th grade environment that makes a lasting impact on students long after leaving our halls. If you have questions, email Mrs. Mok, admissions@srles.com.

The chilly winter days had a brief impact on the Gathering Hall heating system this week. Fortunately, this did not affect the flow of our school days, we simply pivoted to plan B in which students went directly to their classrooms in the morning and also ate lunch there. Today the parts were delivered and the issue is resolved. Please be assured that student safety is our top priority and in situations like these we follow internal protocol which is to alert the landlord (St. Rose Parish) and ensure that the students are safe. This was assessed and accomplished. If there are any further issues with the heat in the Gathering Hall that impact the flow of the school day I will let you know.

Calling All Virtus-Trained Parents: Volunteer Opportunity!

It’s that time of year to show our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated teachers, administration, and staff who work tirelessly to educate and support our children, making St. Rose a wonderful place to learn and grow.

On Friday, January 31, we’re hosting a special luncheon for approximately 35 teachers and staff in the library from 11:30 AM to 12:10 PM.

To make this a true gift for our teachers, allowing them to enjoy lunch together, we’ll need volunteers to cover classrooms in the main building and two preschool classes from 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM.

This is a wonderful opportunity to give back to the amazing educators who make such a difference in our children’s lives. Last year’s event was a success, thanks to our amazing volunteers—we’re hoping to pull it off again!

If you are Virtus-trained and available to help, we’d love for you to sign up HERE. Together, we can make this a special day for our incredible staff!

Thank you for your support!

St. Rose Boys Basketball Update: Strong Wins at St. Joseph's!

We are excited to share the results from the two recent games played by our Boys Varsity and JV teams at St. Joseph’s!

Varsity Boys: St. Rose 59, St. Joseph’s 16

Our Varsity Boys put on a dominant performance, cruising to a decisive 59-16 victory. The team displayed strong defense and efficient offense throughout the game, limiting St. Joseph's to just 16 points. Great teamwork and hustle were on display, and every player contributed to the win. A special shoutout to our defense for holding the opposition to such a low score, and to the entire team for their relentless effort on both ends of the floor!

JV Boys: St. Rose 40, St. Joseph’s 33

Our JV Boys also came out on top with a hard-fought 40-33 win. The game was closely contested, but our team showed resilience and composure in the final moments to seal the victory. Solid shooting, strong rebounding, and excellent ball movement helped secure the win. It was an impressive showing from our JV squad, and we look forward to seeing their continued growth and success throughout the season!

Both teams showcased excellent play, and we couldn’t be more proud of their performances. As always, thank you to the coaches, players, and fans for their continued support. We look forward to more exciting games ahead!
