Greetings from Mr. G
Watching First graders parade through the halls as U.S. Presidents and First Ladies evoked a feeling of hope. They were representing people who have made an impact on our country and at the same time they are indications of our bright future. The parade unified all students and faculty who lined the hallways waving American flags and cheering, reminding us that we are truly one nation, under God. Bringing lessons to life makes a lasting impression.
Leadership was a theme this week. Our school families organized a beautiful tribute to Officer Perez on Valentine's afternoon. The handmade cards, balloons and cheers for him on the car walk line were very well deserved. He is a strong and steady presence at school, keeping us safe day to day. God bless you Officer Perez!
All of our classrooms are buzzing with activity. Seventh graders are discovering the muscular, skeletal and digestive systems and in Transitional Kindergarten students learned all about the Olympics -- more lessons that our teachers are bringing to life through their creative curriculum and dedication to giving every student the tools they need to reach their God given potential. You can read all about class activities and student accomplishments in Mrs. B's Adventures in Student Life.
We are looking forward to welcoming parents back into our halls after the mask restrictions are lifted. Making in person connections is something we have all missed these past two years and parent volunteers have always been a key component to school life. Given the changes that have occurred and important information that needs to be shared, we will be holding parent volunteer training sessions in the coming weeks. I am grateful to Mrs. McRuiz for being the parent point person in this process. It is also important that all parents are Virtus trained. If you have not yet had training or need to check on the status of your training, please email Mrs. Sweeting, [email protected] for details. Your patience and cooperation is appreciated. Please stay tuned for training session dates/times in the next couple of weeks.
I hope you will make every effort to attend the HSA meeting next Thursday, February 24th. at 6:30 p.m. We will be discussing important school information and look forward to the opportunity to see everyone in person.
As you know, school will be closed Monday February 21st and Tuesday February 22nd for Winter Break. I wish you a relaxing, fun long weekend. Looking ahead Ash Wednesday will be March 2nd. The school will attend mass virtually at 9 a.m. followed by Ash distribution for K-8 at the church. Sister Thaddeus will distribute ashes to the Preschool students that morning. We will keep you posted about when we can return to in person Friday masses. As a reminder, school will be closed Monday March 7th for a Professional Development day.
Thank you to all who supported the Tuition raffle. We netted $9,724 for the Blooms Fund. Every dollar is critical as we build toward our $150,000 annual goal to balance the budget. Currently we are at $108,000 which means we have $42,000 left to raise between now and June. If you have been considering helping with the GAP fee, which is the $2,500 difference between the cost of tuition and the actual cost of educating each child, please contact Mr. Rice, bookkeeper@srles. Thank you for your support.
Congratulations to our Second graders who received First Reconciliation last Saturday. It was a beautiful mass on a beautiful day. Thanks to Mrs. Heyder, Sister Thaddeus and Monsignor Bob for their guidance as these children travel in their faith journey. I also want to recognize our basketball teams and cheerleaders for their commitment and wonderful sportsmanship. Special cheers to our 8th grade varsity players in their final season at St. Rose School. Your dedication and school spirit is evident both on the court and in our halls. God bless!
The long weekend is here -- enjoy!
God Bless,
Mr. G
