THE FRIDAY REVIEW

St. Rose School

September 16, 2022

"But test everything; hold fast what is good."

-

1 Thessalonians 5:21

Greetings from Dr. G

The first full week of school is in the books! Students are engaged and day by day routines are being established. We are running on all cylinders.

Thanks to those of you who attended the Safety sessions yesterday. These, along with Virtus training, are key elements of our volunteer program and ensure that your children, faculty and all who walk in our halls are secure. You will be hearing from teachers about volunteer opportunities in the next week. If you were not able to make the Safety session please let us know. You can find Virtus training classes at virtus.org.

I am always delighted with the high energy and commitment of our families. We are truly partners in your children's education. As such we vow to keep you informed about all school matters through this weekly Friday Review and Mrs. B's Adventures in Student Life.  The website is also up to date, www.stroseschool.com and periodically you will receive emails from me regarding timely and significant matters. Given the hectic pace of the school day there might be a delay in our response time. If you have questions that are routine in nature, please refer to the weekly communications. If you have an urgent matter please call the main office. We appreciate your patience and cooperation.

There are always exciting things happening in our halls. This afternoon we had an engaging band demonstration by Paul Effman Music who will be offering instrument instruction after school. We are also busy preparing for the Blooms Benefit on October 21st.  What a joyful evening of celebration for Sister Thaddeus it will be and a wonderful way to connect with our community. Sister has made an impact on so many people through her years of service which is evident in the outpouring of support we are receiving to make this a memorable night. I hope to see many of you there.

It's time for the weekend -- Fall is in the air! Enjoy your family time and remember that next Friday, September 23rd, is an early dismissal day at 11:30 a.m. for teacher professional development.

God bless,

Dr. G

Our littlest learners made their way to the Big school this week and met many friendly people includingDr. G, Mrs. B and Mrs. Rahtelli. They were on a scavenger hunt to learn about places they will be visiting through the year. It is a joy to hear their gleeful voices as they make daily adventures and discoveries.

HSA NEWS

Dear Parents,

First, we would like to thank you all for your continued support over these past two weeks with voting, enrolling and signing up to volunteer. Together with your support we will have an incredible year!

We are happy to report that the proxy vote to approve the 2022-23 HSA Budget and allocation of $22,000 to offset the costs of the school’s new security upgrades passed. Thanks to all who took the time to vote.

If you have not had the opportunity to do so, please enroll in HSA and submit your dues online via PayPal. We also accept checks payable to “St. Rose HSA” which you can send to the school office (in an envelope marked “HSA”).

If you have not already done so, please consider signing up to volunteer with our programs and events this year. It’s a great way to give back to our school and meet and get to know other parents. Without many hands these events cannot happen. If we all volunteer a little, we can accomplish A LOT!  One point of clarification is that the Sweetheart Dance was formerly known as the Father-Daughter Dance.  It has been renamed to be inclusive of uncles, grandfathers, or any special man in a girl’s life.

Please join us tonight for a night of family fun at Bingo. Doors will open at 5:45 pm and games will run from 6:30 pm-9:30 pm. The per-person admission fee of $20 will cover all regular games. Food and drinks will be available for sale.

Support our school by signing up for our Raise Right (formerly SCRIP) Grocery Gift Card program. Order monthly gift cards to use for your regular grocery shopping needs and automatically support the school. To sign up, fill out this form and submit it to scrip@srles.com or send it to the SCRIP/Raise Right team via the school office. For more information, view this FAQ document. Additionally, all of your gift card needs throughout the year can be ordered through our Raise Right program and help the school! Ordering uniforms? Lands End is another participating vendor! So is Starbucks! You can download the Raise Right app on your phone and use the SRS enrollment code FDD33AD29533 to begin raising money for our school!

We appreciate and welcome your feedback, questions, and ideas.  Please always feel free to email us at hsa@srles.com.
