THE FRIDAY REVIEW

St. Rose School

October 14, 2022

"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms."

1 Peter 4:10

Greetings from Dr. G

Kindness, leadership and service are at the heart of all we teach and do at St. Rose School.  This is evidenced in the many outreaches we undertake in our community as well as in the way in which we conduct ourselves on a daily basis.

This morning we had an award ceremony after Mass recognizing students for the special ways in which they make a positive impact on others and in our halls.  Congratulations to Matthew Belisari and Jaclyn Gelson who received the Dr. August D'Alessandro Faith & Leadership Award.  Dr. D'Alessandro was a parishioner who passed away last Spring and left a legacy of Faith and Leadership that his family wanted to inspire and support within our school.  His granddaughter Jessica, a college student, presented the award and was joined by her parents, grandmother, aunt and uncle.  The Thomas Weiss award for Service was presented by Monsignor Bob to Shivanjali Bhagania and Christian Fappiano.  Monsignor shared that a focal point of his brother's life was helping others, from animals to people suffering from illnesses and in need.  Christian and Jaclyn were recognized for having hearts of service which Monsignor emphasized are a gift to others.

Mrs. B pointed out that it is the little things that students may not think people notice that make them unique and wonderful.  She reminded all students of the goodness they have within and encouraged them to always be themselves and in so doing they are making a difference.  We look forward to watching students in Preschool-8th grade continue to bloom in mind, heart and soul as we travel through 2022-2023 school year together.

There is so much to relish about autumn, the leaves are vibrant, the air is fresh and nature is on full display.  Many animals are preparing for winter hibernation and this afternoon there was a visitor wandering close to school -- a bear!  While it never made it to campus we knew it was nearby so to avoid any potential issues we cancelled recess and other outdoor activities for the afternoon.  Keeping students safe is our top priority.

Today begins our one week countdown to the Blooms Benefit where we will gather to celebrate Sister Thaddeus.  I began this newsletter speaking about kindness, leadership and service so it is fitting to end with a person who embodies these characteristics and has demonstrated them daily, over many years.  We are blessed to have Sister Thaddeus in our school family and thank God for her vocation.  My thanks to everyone who is contributing their time, talent and treasure to making this a night to remember.

On a final note, I will share that some of our visitors today were former teachers.  They were quite impressed with the classrooms and our students, particularly the fourth graders who were readers at Mass.  Friday Mass is a beloved tradition that brings us closer to the Lord and also gives our students opportunities to be an active part of the liturgy.  This adds a special dimension to the educational journey at St. Rose School.

Tonight our HSA is holding Bingo in the hall, it is always a fun evening.  Have a wonderful weekend and we will see your children back in our halls Monday morning.

God Bless,

Dr. G

7 DAYS AND COUNTING TO THE

BLOOMS BENEFIT

Three cheers for Sister Thaddeus!  What a joyful evening it will be as we gather to celebrate her years of service and dedication to Catholic education.  There will be a room filled with people from all walks of her life all coming together to show her how much she is loved and has made an impact by loving and serving God.  We are blessed!

There are so many ways to be a part of this event, from attending to helping behind the scenes.  Special thanks to the Blooms Committee as well as well as all class parents and families for the creative, extensive gift baskets that will be featured in the silent auction.  This will kick off early next week so stay tuned for a link via email or text!   If you cannot attend the event but would like to make a donation you can do that via the link as well.  All proceeds go to the BLOOMS FUND to ensure a stellar academic, faith focused education for your children.
