THE FRIDAY REVIEW

St. Rose School

October 13, 2023

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid."

John 14:27

Greetings from Dr. G

BLOOMING is what our days at St. Rose School are all about and one of our biggest supporters through the years has been Monsignor Bob. We are excited to honor him on November 10th at the Blooms Benefit, An Evening in Paris. If you haven't done so already please get your tickets and join us for a fun night in the company of good people with a focus on raising funds to keep this school vibrant for the future. Click here for tickets.

Progress reports for grades 5-8 will be sent out as an email attachment on tomorrow, October 14. This year's progress reports will be a one-page summary of the current average in each course. Itemized lists of every individual assignment score will still be available in PlusPortals. Progress reports are a helpful tool for gauging where students stand at this point in the quarter and are intended to be constructive. If you have any questions or concerns please email your child(ren)'s teachers.

Please note the new dates for Parent-Teacher conferences, November 14, 15 and 16th. These will be early dismissal days with departure at 11:30 for the main school and 11:15 for the Preschool. If you have arrangements with Newtown Community Center for After Care there will be a bus those days. Stay tuned for details about how to register for conferences. Click here for updated school calendar.

While I am not rushing Winter I do want to alert you to the school policy regarding snow days. The first three school weather related cancellations will be traditional snow days that will be added to the calendar in June. After three snow days we will employ elearning and those days will be counted as regular school days. We do know that December 14th will be an elearning day. As always I thank you for your cooperation.

Thanks to Mrs. B, Mrs. Cicarelli and Mr. Fournier for a festive Pumpkin Bowl yesterday afternoon. The weather was ideal and the sportsmanship was remarkable. Emcees, cheerleaders and fans from Preschool through 7th grade added the special touch that is the spirit of St. Rose School. It was great to see many parents there as well. You can read all about it in Mrs. B's Aventures in Student Life.

A reminder that winter uniforms went into effect today. Please refer to the Family Handbook for any questions about uniforms.

Let us pray for peace in our community and our world. We invite all family members to join us for Friday Mass, it is such a wonderful way to connect with the Lord and our school and parish family. May God hold us all in his loving hands.

As we head into the weekend I hope you will consider starting it off by attending Bingo tonight; our HSA does a wonderful job providing a night of fun for all in the community which also raises funds for the school. Seventh and Eigth grade families please note that here is a Commitment Mass on Sunday October 15th at 6:30 p.m. in the church for students who will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation next Spring.

Wishing you a relaxing couple of days in this beautiful Fall weather.

God bless,

Dr. G
