THE FRIDAY REVIEW

St. Rose School

October 27, 2023

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."

Galatians 6:9

Greetings from Dr. G

This week we celebrated outcomes and realized that everything good happens in God's time. It was a joy to officially dedicate our new school boiler. This is the result of many years of hard work and the generosity of Monsignor Bob, school parents and parishioners. I want to give special thanks to Mr. Steve Pagliaro, an alumni parent and Chair of the Facilities committee of the School Advisory Board, who spent countless hours on this project. Kudos also to Mrs. Stephanie DeBartolomeo, our School Advisory Board Chairperson and also an alumni parent, who helped bring the vision to fruition. The boiler, the first replacement since the school opened in 1958, will keep us warm for many years to come. Teamwork is at the heart of all we do at St. Rose School.

Today we recognized two students after Mass whose quiet examples of faith and leadership speak volumes to those around them. Seventh graders Siobhan Hall and Evelyn Sweeting received the Dr. August D'Alessandro Faith and Leadership Award in a beautiful ceremony after Mass in which Mrs. B explained that what is remembered about the students in our school family are the special ways they use their talents to brighten other lives. Siobhan recently made several rosary beads for the residents of Church Hill village and is currently making more. Evelyn is always there for all in our school with a smile and helping hand, particularly as a dedicated member of the basketball team who looks out for others on and off the court. Dr. D'Alessandro's daughter and granddaughter were here to present the awards and share words about his commitment to humble leadership and faith. Congratulations to Evelyn and Siobhan.

On these beautiful Fall days we have been enjoying God's creation with outdoor harvest festivals and field trips. You can read all about them in

Mrs. B's Adventures in Student Life. Mrs. Ferriter's Art classes have been creating enchanting Fall themed art as well.

Our Blooms Benefit, An Evening in Paris, is fast approaching! This is our biggest fundraiser of the year to benefit the students of St. Rose School. The guest list is robust with current and alumni parents, parishioners and commuity members. The deadline for tickets is October 30th so if you'd like to join the festivities please check the information below. Many thanks to our enthusiastic committee, some of whom who were here wrapping baskets today. We are most grateful for the generous contributions from our school, parish and surrounding communities. It's going to be a fantastic night of celebration.

The links for parent teacher conferences were sent through Mrs. Sweeting today. Click here. These will be early dismissal days with departure at 11:30 for the main school and 11:15 for the Preschool. Please note: there will not be After Care on early dismissal days. I apologize for any inconvenience.

On a Safety Note -- please be mindful of bus lanes during morning drop off and afternoon pick up. There have been some issues with blocked bus lanes which can lead to dangerous situations. Safety is our top priority so we appreciate your partnership in this matter.

Next Wednesday, November 1st, is All Saints Day. We will attend Mass together at 9:00 a.m. This means there will not be a school Friday Mass on November 3rd. Please join us at our school Masses whenever you can, they are such a blessing.

I hope many of you are planning to attend Trunk or Treat tomorrow night. The weather looks fantastic. Thanks to our HSA and the committee for making this such a fun night for our students and families. Sister Thaddeus also asked me to share that Religious Educaton is hosting an intriguing presentation about the Shroud of Turin on November 4th . 7th & 8th graders are encouraged to attend and all are invited. You can find information here.

Have a wonderful weekend.

God bless,

Dr. G
