What Christ Church Means to Me

by Ruth Holland

My name is Ruth Holland. My husband Martin and I started attending Christ Church in July of 2018. We decided we felt most at home in the Episcopal Church while in school at the University of Georgia, and when we came to Christ Church Valdosta, we truly felt as though we had come home. Thank you Everyone!!!

August Treasurer Report

by Stefani Carroll

Here are the totals for August 2024. As you can see, our YTD Income Vs Expenses remain in the black. This is very good news, since we often go into the red due to the summer lull. We are currently working on next year's budget, and that will occupy most of our time through the end of the year. Next month you will see the quarterly numbers.

Thanks for your continued, amazing support of Christ Church and our ministries!

October Treasurer Report

by Stefani Carroll

Dear Christ Church Family,

Here are the September totals. You will notice our YTD Income vs Expense is now in the red; I hope to see that reduce significantly with the quarterly giving reminders. Also included are our bank balances, since September represents the end of the third quarter. As always, let Amy and I know if you have questions or concerns!

First Wednesday November 6th

A Spirituality of Fundraising by Henri Nouwen

Starts with 6:00pm followed by covered dish gathering at 6:30p.

Fr. Hal will lead us through Nouwen's book as the basis for our Stewardship ministry. Although Nouwen is not an expert on developing the various skills and practices often employed by people who fundraise. Instead, his credibility came from his profound understanding of the heart. Won't you come, bring a friend and/or family member and a covered dish to share.

Thursday Morning Eucharist

A lot of interest has been expressed in bringing back our Thursday morning Eucharists at 7:00am in the nave. All Valdosta area Episcopal Churches are involved in this service. The group will go to breakfast afterwards. We hope to see you there.

Christian Education for Adults

Every Sunday at 9:15a Christian Education has a learning session from 9:15a until 9:45a. We are looking for more members to participate and join these sessions.

Prayer for Israel and Palestine from Bishop Logue

“God of peace, we pray for the people of Israel and Palestine in this time of war.

For all who are fearful for the safety of their loved ones and themselves, we pray that the assurance of unfailing love, even in the midst of danger, settles upon them. Shelter them from despair and protect them from harm.

We remember before you the Anglican Archbishop of Jerusalem and the Middle East, the Most Reverend Hosam Elias Naoum, and the people of his churches, hospitals, and other ministries.

For all who have died, we pray they find rest.

For all who grieve, we pray they find comfort.

For all who are wounded, we pray they find healing.

For leaders on all sides, we pray for the will to lay down arms and for the conviction to embrace a path of reconciliation and peace that preserves the rights and dignity of all of your children.

God of justice, we pray with hopeful hearts that your beloved children of the Holy Land.

We ask all this in the name of your Son, Jesus. Amen.”

Prayer for the Ukraine

God of peace and justice, we pray for the people of Ukraine today. We pray for peace and the laying down of weapons. We pray for all those who fear for tomorrow, that your Spirit of comfort would draw near to them. We pray for those with power over war or peace for wisdom, discernment, and compassion to guide their decisions. Above all, we pray for all your precious children, at risk and in fear, that you would hold and protect them. We pray in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace.

Amen.

Church of England, Archbishop of York, Stephen Cottrel
