Library Park Conceptual Plan

Our Purpose

Library Park Project

Conway Public Library is a cornerstone of the Mount Washington Valley’s social infrastructure and plays an essential role in the life of our community. From working to close the digital divide, to ensuring equitable access to literacy resources regardless of family income, our professional library staff work tirelessly to meet many of our region’s evolving needs.

Conway Public Library is an anchor institution in our early childhood ecosystem and an essential partner to our childcare centers and schools as they nurture our next generation of citizens.

The proposed redesign of the library park aims to introduce various elements that will make the park more useful to the entire community and allow the Library to advance its mission.

Why we need this park design?

Focal Point: Book Plaza & Pavilion Area

Book Plaza & Pavilion

Constructing a pavilion that will serve as the focal point, gathering space, & community hub for outdoor programs!

A permanent, shaded pavilion area expands outdoor programming opportunities for our community members and visitors to enjoy. The intentional green space will draw in folks of all ages, building social capital while yielding physical and mental health benefits of time outdoors in the community.

Walking Storytime, Loose Parts Play Area & Sound Garden

Library Park Project

StoryWalk® promotes early literacy, physical activity, and family time together in nature. Take a stroll and enjoy successive pages from a children's story along your path.

Labyrinth

Library Park Project

A circular path you follow until you reach the center and reverse to find your way out. Labyrinths are created to be a place to walk while thinking serenely and peacefully; a place of meditation and deep thought, but also a beautiful visual piece of art and intrigue.

Roadside Beautification Area

Library Park Project

A garden is an educational tool for everyone and serves important environmental purposes. Surrounding walkways will be either made with stabilized mulch or concrete.

Quiet Seating Area

Library Park Project

The large, open grassy areas provide the perfect shady space to study, have meetings, or eat a picnic lunch. Benches and picnic tables strategically placed throughout the park maximize the use of space while providing enough distance to maintain privacy and comfort.

Natural Barrier for Noise & Safety

Library Park Project

Parents will feel better with a natural fence to keep vehicles and sound pollution down, and children will be safer separated from the busy street.
