Hello MCC Family,

It’s your adult youth group leaders and we wanted to update you on our amazing trip to Camp Berea. As you read this, we are probably catching up on our last hour of sleep! Our Deep Freeze winter camp “team” consisted of 53 MCC students and leaders who descended upon Hebron, New Hampshire for a weekend of FUN.

The weekend’s worship band was “One Voice Anthem” and they led us through music in each of our four, big-group sessions. These sessions included games from the stage, skits, videos, and of course a message from the Bible. Each of these messages were taught by our guest speaker, Sam Bahtt. Sam is a speaker who has served churches and camps for over 19 years. A longtime friend of Berea, this is the first weekend we have heard Sam speak.

Our teaching theme this year was “Game Changers” where we looked at 2 Samuel 23 and David’s mighty men. In the midst of everything else around us, are we willing to stand firm for what is right even if we are the only one? This teaching then broke into several small group discussions where we talked about our lives and the pressures we faced.

Saturday night’s message ended with a call to change. We were challenged to receive Christ or rededicate our lives to Him. This led to many decisions made that have the potential to change our student’s lives forever.

To round out the weekend’s activities we had food, carpetball, basketball, archery tag, tubing, board games, and more. Honestly, we had such a fun time.

Oh. And about that weather… Between the ice and the snow, our bus company grounded its fleet and we were able to stay at Berea for another day. Although this wasn’t planned, the opportunity allowed us to continue fostering relationships with each other and Jesus while in this fun environment. As a bonus, we were able to stream the Patriots game Sunday night and see them walk away victorious! It was a perfect conclusion to an amazing and – perhaps – life transforming weekend for our students and leaders. We can’t wait to see what God will do through these student’s lives after the experience they each had. But for now, we are back - to sleep and to recharge for Youth Group gatherings this week. Thank you all for praying for us and entrusting your students to us.

In His Grip,
