PITTSBURGH, Pa.: Whether it's called Real Money Video Games or Skill Gaming, legislators, regulators, and operators are taking notice of this growing and mostly unregulated market that competes with casinos and online gaming companies. Is it time to regulate it?

As legal challenges mount in the courts over the legality of these games, legislators are doing their best to understand the issues and develop thoughtful policy to ensure a level playing field without stifling innovation.

The impact these issues have on the industry will be among the topics discussed at the NCLGS Summer Meeting, July 17-20, 2024, at Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh.

The Committee on Emerging Forms of Gaming will be chaired by Rep. Chris Kannady of Oklahoma, and panelists will include:

  • Anthony Gaud, Co-CEO, Gaud-Hammer Gaming Group (G3)
  • Jeff Morris, Vice President Public Affairs, Penn Entertainment
  • Kurt Steinkamp, Chief of Staff, Michigan Gaming Control Board
  • Eric Weiss, President, North America, Odds on Compliance

Early-bird registration rates are in effect until May 15. Additionally, a hotel group room block is available at The Landing Hotel at Rivers, and attendees are strongly encouraged to book early to secure their accommodation as space is limited and sells out fast.

The NCLGS semiannual meetings attract state legislators as well as regulators, gaming operators and suppliers, attorneys, lobbyists, media, and other stakeholders to discuss all aspects of regulated gaming. The meetings help state legislators from across the country establish sound, effective gaming policies.

NCLGS attendance continues to grow; the recent Winter Meeting in Fort Lauderdale continued the trend of record attendance by attracting more than 300 people, and NCLGS meetings now consistently draw attendance of more than 100 legislators and regulators.

The National Council of Legislators from Gaming States, founded more than a quarter-century ago, is the only organization of state lawmakers that meets on a regular basis to discuss issues related to gaming. NCLGS neither promotes nor opposes gaming but is focused on proper regulation and promoting best practices in the governance of this important industry.

NCLGS meetings are the only conferences in the United States that focus on the goals and plans of legislative decision-makers. They are also open to the public. Click here to register.
