Get to GA Together: Save Money, Build Community, and Reduce Your Carbon Footprint!

rickyrides-logo image

General Assembly (GA) is in Baltimore, Maryland this summer, within a day’s drive for thousands Unitarian Universalists. Let’s get there together! Save money, reduce environmental impact, and foster community by sharing rides to GA.

Here’s some ideas for traveling together:

  • Ridesharing and Carpooling. If your congregation has parking that won’t be used in June, consider offering your site as a park-and-ride or meeting spot to share rides to GA.
  • General Assembly 2025 will be posted on the rideshare site RickyRides. Drivers and riders can post ride offers or requests with by location (zipcode). Congregations can create a post and put park-and-ride information in the description.
  • Congregations might also consider using a church vehicle or renting a van and providing transportation – either as a fundraiser or just a way to facilitate attendance from your congregation. Consult your insurer before implementing a rideshare program.
  • Is your congregation near a commuter rail station? Use your available parking to be a park-and-ride location for the train to Baltimore.

Baltimore UUs Bring Local Flair to GA 2025!

General Assembly 2025 is happening June 18–22, both online and in person in Baltimore, Maryland! Local Area Coordinator Valerie Hsu is on a mission to make sure that when you come to GA, you don’t just see the inside of a convention center—you experience the energy, culture, and history of Baltimore.

“So often when people go to a conference, they get home and feel that all they’ve seen is the inside of a convention center,” says LaTonya Richardson, GA and Conference Services director. “The local GA team adds local touches and flair that give GA the stamp of the place, so people will go home thinking: I went to the Baltimore GA.”

Baltimore is the perfect place to gather, with its award-winning restaurants, renowned museums—including the Smithsonian-affiliated Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture—and deep-rooted Unitarian Universalist history. With 279 unique neighborhoods, there’s always something to explore!

Hsu, executive director of the UU Congregation of Columbia, Maryland, is teaming up with the UUA’s GA and Conference Services team to make sure GA has a true Baltimore vibe. She’s recruiting local UU volunteers, connecting with area vendors, working with the UUA’s Organizing Strategy Team to select the Sunday Service offering recipient, and helping plan a powerful public witness event.

If you haven’t registered for GA yet, now’s the time! You won’t want to miss this opportunity to connect with UUs from across the country while experiencing everything Baltimore has to offer.

Watch the video to see how local UUs are shaping GA 2025 and making it an event to remember!
