Library Podcast Studio Amplifies Undergrad Voices in Multiple Languages

As part of the emergent Communicating Just Futures Lab, Catalina de Onís is pleased to announce that the Mansfield Library's Podcast Studio made possible several Spanish-language recordings for an Oregon community radio station! Davidson Honors College student Katia Chavez and Catalina read from bilingual children's book Together for Climate Justice! The content aired on a children's show for Radio Poder in Oregon's Willamette Valley. The four recorded chapters are posted on a bilingual website dedicated to communicating science and environmental, climate, and energy justice. In the months ahead, Catalina will be interviewing undergraduates about their research and creative scholarship, as part of a new podcast that seeks to amplify student projects.

Please, stay tuned, and let Catalina know of any students who might like to be interviewed!

Job & Volunteer Opportunity!

Are you looking for a fun and meaningful job or volunteer experience this summer? Camp Mak-A-Dream is a summer camp in Gold Creek, Montana for children, teens, young adults, and families affected by cancer. Our mission is to empower survivors and their families through life-changing Montana experiences where they strengthen life skills, gain resilience, and develop lasting relationships.

Camp is looking for both week-long volunteers and summer staff for the 2025 season. Volunteers come up for a one-week camp session to provide support for our campers either as cabin counselors or program assistants. Summer staff work as either cabin leaders who supervise and guide campers throughout the week or program team specialists who lead specific program activity areas and collaborate to create campus-wide events.

Applications are Open!

United to Beat Malaria, a campaign of the United Nations Foundation, invites students, researchers, and faculty to apply to attend our 2025 Leadership Summit, which will be held in Washington, D.C., from March 16-18th, 2025. This 3-day conference consists of 2 days of training and workshops to increase your knowledge of the challenges, opportunities, and funding needs for U.S.-supported global malaria programs. It culminates in a day of advocacy on Capitol Hill, mobilizing support for these programs with members of the United States Congress. These programs rely on funding through the U.S. Congressional budget to do their life-saving work of building more resilient health systems globally.

Volunteers will help advance bipartisan support for global health funding while developing their skills as policy advocates. United to Beat Malaria can cover up to 80% of travel costs for accepted applicants. We can also provide documentation to support applicants seeking external funding to attend the conference. Apply by January 5th at 11:59pm EST and reach out to mcross@unfoundation.org with any questions!
