UMCUR is Coming Up!

The UM Conference on Undergraduate Research (UMCUR) is just one month away on Friday, April 25!


There are two invited action items for UM community members: 1) respond to a call for conference volunteers and 2) RSVP to lunch and/or dinner events. Please keep reading for more information!


On conference day, Friday, April 25, UMCUR needs many volunteers to serve as Greeters, Session Moderators, Presentation/Performance Reviewers (formerly “judges”; read about the revised award’s process), Poster Session Guides, Food and Drink Monitors, and As-needed Support Crew. Please complete the Volunteer Interest Form.

 by March 31; earlier expressions of interest are greatly appreciated. Students, staff, and faculty members are all encouraged to volunteer. Please sign up and spread the word!

Position: UM International House Manager

Employer: UM International Students & Scholars (ISS) in the Global Engagement Office

Location: University of Montana - International House (659 South 5th St. East, Missoula, MT 59801)

Position Type: Student Employment 

Compensation: $200 stipend for 15hr/month work

Contract: Academic year base 

Start Date: Early August 2025 (or earlier, negotiable)


Job Summary: 

The International House (I-House) Manager at the University of Montana plays a key role in fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for international and domestic students. The manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations, organizing cultural events, and ensuring the International House remains a comfortable and safe space for all residents and visitors. 

  • Responsibilities: 
  • Cooperate with ISS Staff, international students & scholars and community groups to facilitate programs and events.
  • Assist new international orientations.
  • Create opportunities for cross-cultural exchange.
  • Organize I-House for events and guests.
  • Must be a UM student.
  • Must reside at I-House.
  • Benefits:
  • $700 rent, single room with basic furniture, wifi, washer & dryer, and kitchen & basement access. Utilities and one free parking spot are included.

Are you looking for a fun and meaningful job or volunteer experience this summer? Camp Mak-A-Dream is a summer camp in Gold Creek, Montana for children, teens, young adults, and families affected by cancer. Our mission is to empower survivors and their families through life-changing Montana experiences where they strengthen life skills, gain resilience, and develop lasting relationships.

 

Camp is looking for both week-long volunteers and summer staff for the 2025 season. Volunteers come up for a one-week camp session to provide support for our campers either as cabin counselors or program assistants. Summer staff work as either cabin leaders who supervise and guide campers throughout the week or program team specialists who lead specific program activity areas and collaborate to create campus-wide events.

With engaging and dynamic lectures and case studies, our trained public administration instructors will highlight what you need to know to be an effective public servant.

 

NPAD 466: Practical Applications in Nonprofit Administration


Tuesday & Thursday 12:30-1:50


In this 400-level course, students will explore the unique role that nonprofit organizations play in society. Students will expand on their basic understanding of nonprofits to explore fundraising, budgeting, resource development, outreach and communication. Students will leave the course with broad and deep knowledge of the relationship between communities and nonprofit organizations.

Prerequisites: Junior Standing- Our department is flexible about this. Please reach out for more information.
