Welcome Reception: 6:00 PM MDT in the UC Grand Foyer
Dialogue: 7:00 PM MDT in the UC Ballroom and via Zoom
For more than four decades, Dr. Mary Frances Berry has been one of the most visible and respected activists in the cause of civil rights, gender equality, and social justice. Drawing on the foundational tenets of hope and urgency outlined by Dr. Martin Luther King, Dr. Berry will explore the history of the civil rights movement and consider what is needed to achieve Dr. King’s vision of a socially conscious democracy that reconciles the truths of individualism and collectivism.

April is a busy month for sustainability and we are in need of volunteers! Earth Week is next week, April 22-26th. We have multiple events where we will need extra hands in setting up, tabling, and taking down. Additionally, the student sustainability fee is on the ASUM ballot for a $3 fee increase (from $6-$9). This fee increase is CRUCIAL in maintaining the success of the Kless Sustainability Fund and the Office of Sustainability outreach programs.
We are looking for any students willing to volunteer an hour or more of their time to help campaign for the fee increase and help with sustainability events throughout April. We need at least 12% of the student population to vote during this election on April 24-25, and a majority vote for the sustainability fee increase to be approved for the fall semester. We won't be able to do it without the support of people like you!

Thursday, April 25th, 3:00-3:50 in UC room 326
These forums are an opportunity for students to speak about their experiences and impact the results of UM’s accreditation.
Snacks will be served!
Sample questions evaluators may ask in the forum:
- What brought you to UM? What other schools did you consider, and why did you choose this one?
- Where do you get your information about course selection and your progress toward your goal?
- Do you feel like the information you receive is timely and accurate?
- Do you know where to go for help with academic support? Career exploration or planning? Personal counseling?
- What resources at the institution are most important for your progress and your success?
- If you have concerns about a faculty, student, or staff member, do you know how to address those? Do you know the institution’s processes for complaints or grievances?
- If you could make recommendations to college leadership that would make the institution better, what would you recommend?
| April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAMM): Denim Day and Take Back the Night | |
SARC, along with campus and community partners, is observing Sexual Assault Action Month. Traditionally known as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, or SAAM, however, we at SARC feel that awareness does not go far enough, and action is where we would like our community to focus.
We would like your help in one particular SAAM event: Denim Day.
- Staff, faculty, and students can participate by wearing denim on Wednesday, April 24th and sharing photos on social media of your denim looks! SARC will also be supplying denim ribbons – if jeans are absolutely not your style. Or wear jeans AND a ribbon; who doesn’t love denim-on-denim?!
- You can also visit SARC’s table in the UC from 11-2 pm on the 24th, where folks can write notes of support to survivors in our community and get more information about supporting survivors.
- If you would like more information or have any questions please feel welcome to reach out to me: aislinn.addington@mso.umt.edu
- April 24th is also the day SARC, along with GERC and Wellness students, will host a “Take Back the Night” program for our community. Please share the attached flier with students! All are welcome to join Wednesday, the 24th at 7pm in The Branch Center!
