Join the Alumni Office on August 30th from 2:00-3:30pm at Brantly Beach (located between Brantly and Corbin Hall) to kick off the school year and the start of football season! All students are welcome for ice cream, games, and a good time!

"Civic Influencers is a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) nonprofit that uses data-driven and co-created strategies to empower young people to make their voices heard—and their votes count" through democratic and voting engagement activities.

Applications are open to be a Civic Influencer for the Fall '24 term, September 2nd to December 6th (14 weeks), and receive a $500 stipend for participating in the program.

Jobs Fest Tuesday, Sept. 10, noon-2:30

Are you looking for on-campus or part-time employment? What about other career-enhancing opportunities? The Experiential Learning and Career Success Center invites you to the University of Montana Fall Jobs Fest on Tuesday, September 10th, 2024!

This is an excellent fair for employers and students to connect about part-time and on-campus employment opportunities, as well as volunteer, internship, research, and other experiential learning opportunities.

Max Baucus Institute Seeking Intern

The Max Baucus Institute works to break down barriers for university students throughout Montana to gain the experiences and skills they need to be leaders in public service. This year, they've partnered with Missoula County's Office of Emergency Management (OEM) to create a new opportunity for their Baucus Leaders MT program. Specifically, this Baucus Leader would work on OEM’s objective to build and maintain an inclusive culture of emergency preparedness. The work would primarily be project management, research, and creating recommendations for best practices, especially in communication. It’s a great opportunity for a student looking to gain paid experience while making a positive impact in their local community.

• Timeline: October 2024 – December 2024 (with possible extension for spring 2025 if interested)
• Hours: 8 – 10 hours per week
• Location: Mostly remote, but with occasional in-person meetings and some on-site work
• Pay: A $4,000 stipend from the Baucus Institute (with potential for an additional stipend if extended through spring 2025)  
• Academic credit: may be arranged if applicant is interested 
• Application: asks for basic contact information, an unofficial transcript, and 2 short essay questions about why the applicant is interested in this work and what they hope to gain from the experience.

• The Baucus Institute will select 2 – 3 finalists to recommend to the County, and they will conduct interviews and make the final selection.

Tutoring with Migrant Students

Soft Landing Missoula needs YOU for high school and peer-to-peer college tutoring!

For college students, volunteering as a tutor with forced migrants is an opportunity to expand your worldview and community, flex recently learned skills and (let's be honest!) bolster your resume to increase future opportunities. Consistent volunteering oftentimes results in a meaningful and unique reference letter for college students entering a competitive workforce!

Also, there is an opportunity to receive an educational award of over $1,000 through Americorps for volunteering just 5 hours/week throughout the school year.
