Franke GLI in the news!

Congratulations to Franke GLI Fellow Lauren Schulte on earning the George M. Dennison Civic Engagement Scholarship. Lauren is a junior from Spokane, WA, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Climate Change Studies. In addition to her work as a Franke Fellow of Resources and Sustainability, Lauren is also a member of the Davidson Honors College.

Of the honor, Lauren writes, “I feel extremely honored to represent the legacy of George Dennison as a Civic Engagement Scholarship recipient. Serving the University of Montana and Missoula Community as the UM Advocate Co-Coodinator brings me great joy and I am incredibly passionate about this work. Making a difference as an Advocate is one of my favorite parts about UM, and my college experience wouldn’t be the same without this organization!” Congratulations to Lauren!

Congratulations to our Franke GLI Advisory Board member Claire Arcenas and GBLD 194 instructor Scott Arcenas on receiving a $500,000 Mellon Grant together with their colleagues in the history department to support democracy studies at UM. Learn more about the grant here!

Campus Community!

The UM Office of Undergraduate Research is happy to announce the official release of a new podcast: AMPLIFIED@UM! The pod creates a space for UM students to amplify their projects and experiences in their own words and also previews upcoming events, such as the UM Conference on Undergraduate Research (UMCUR) and the School of Music's Fusion concert--both on April 25! This interview-based show is a project of the Office of Undergraduate Research's new Civic Communication and Media Lab. New episodes drop on Wednesdays.
