Great Tech Session on Detailing Your Porsche

Welcome New GMR Members!

Message from GMR President

GMR Tech Session on Exterior

Detailing an Unqualified Success

A big thanks is due to GMR member Paul Zuchowski for conducting the GMR Tech Session at his Williston home, on March 30, postponed due to the big snow storm of March 23. The session covered exterior detailing. Paul covered a range of topics, among them - paint, paint correction, paint care, glass cleaning, trim cleaning, washing techniques and tools of the trade.

Attendees were very enthusiastic about the presentation: Al St. Armand wrote to say, "Just a quick note to make you aware that Paul Zuchowski gave a great Tech Session on the Exterior detailing on Saturday. I think that I speak for everyone there that the session was very informative and fun with the group that attended." Another member commented: "Paul's knowledge was evident as he demonstrated products and techniques used to bring out the very best exterior detail." Rich Scott from Stowe wrote, "The tech session led by Paul Zuchowski was excellent. Two hours blew by with all he taught the six of us".

We will be asking Paul to do another session! Be sure to scroll down for some event photos and other GMR useful information..

Have You Ever Thought About Participating in a

PCA Driver Education Event?

PCA Driving School is a fully instructed, non-competitive driving event. Its focus is on learning performance driving techniques in a controlled environment, providing you with the opportunity to safely appreciate and enjoy the engineering that went into your Porsche.

The school utilizes one-on-one in-car instruction, classroom presentations, and track time; an instructor is always in the car with each student during track time , and all instructors are PCA Certified. Safety is of primary importance and focus. Students will learn about performance driving and safety in a controlled, secure, and safe environment. It is important to stress that this is a fully instructed and controlled event in the classroom and on the track.

If you’d like to experience a PCA Driving School, or observe it before diving in one, PCA’s Niagara Region has offered GMR a limited number of slots in their PCA Driving School at Watkins Glen on August 28 and 29.There are two options available - 1) a two-day event with full participation or 2) a one-day event. Both will offer you the experience of driving your Porsche on a "bucket list" circuit and do so with your GMR friends! If your Porsche is vintage or an SUV, you are welcome to participate in any other brand of car. It needs to be safe and pass technical inspection, but any brand is acceptable.

Location: Watkins Glen International, 2790 Co Rte. 16, Watkins Glen, NY 14891

Safety Requirements for Participation

  • Helmet - Student must have at least a Snell SA2015 rated helmet or a Snell SA2020 rated helmet. Motorcycle or DOT helmets not allowed. The sponsoring Niagara Region does have a few loaner helmets.
  • Tech Inspections -Mandatory for anyone attending PCA Driver Education events. At the tech inspection your car will be put on a lift, wheels will be removed, and a general check-up of your car’s road and/or track worthiness will be performed. Among the items checked are suspension components, safety systems, belts and hoses, fluids, bearings, brakes, tires and wheels, and exhaust system. It is highly recommended you have high confidence that your car will pass Tech Inspection before you arrive at Watkins Glen. Cars that fail Tech Inspection will not be allowed on the track. Many participants have their cars checked-out by their mechanic shortly before an HPDE weekend to reduce the chance of any ‘surprises’ at Tech Inspection.

Want your spouse or partner to also get these

Green Mountain PCA Newsletters?

When you joined PCA (recently or forever ago) you no doubt listed your partner or spouse as a co-member. Many co-members however have not provided their email addresses. If your spouse/partner would like to receive the Mountaineer as well as yourself, have them call PCA HQ at (410) 381-0911‬ and give PCA the information. It only takes a few minutes as PCA is very efficient. That way you both will receive The Mountaineer and other pertinent club emails.

If your co-member remembers his or her co-member login (it is separate from the main member) you can do it that way too-- but calling is probably the quickest.

Member Feature:

Send us your photos!

We have started a feature highlighting a different member in the GMR Mountaineer with his or her Porsche. If you would like to be featured in future newsletter please submit some photos of you and your car along with a paragraph or two explaining why you joined the GMR, your favorite drives or whatever!

Please reply to gmrpca@gmailcom with your photo and information.
