ADAPTIVE SNOW LESSONS SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Due to the current weather conditions of warm temperatures and a lack of snow, all programs that run on Grouse Mountain have been suspended until further notice. Mt Seymour is closed until we get some natural snow and Cypress Mountain is closed, but trying to make snow as quickly as possible to resume activity. As we know more, we will keep everyone informed.

Regarding refunds, we plan to assess the overall season before making any decisions. We appreciate your patience as we navigate through this season, and we will keep you updated.

SNOW DANCE CONTEST

We are running a fun contest to find the best snow dance. Grab a camera and give us your best moves to call on ULLR the god of snow to come back to Vancouver. Hopefully, with enough entries, we will make a giant difference and get the cold temps and clouds together for the creation of many feet of perfect powder, so we can get back on the hills.

The best snow dance will be awarded a limited edition VASS 50th Anniversary Hoodie and Baseball Hat. Contest runs from Feb 3 to Feb 11 at 8pm.

Please make a YouTube, Instagram, Tik Tok and tag us.... or just shoot a video and message us.

VASS-A-THON 2024

FEB 25-Mar 2

The VASS-A-THON is a simple, easy way to do some fundraising to help VASS. Simply have friends and family pledge a dollar amount for you completing a series of activities. As an example, If you think you could ski 5 runs on the mountain and someone pledge 5$ a run, then that person would donate $25 to VASS. Plus- they will get a tax receipt.

To celebrate our 50th year at VASS, we are setting a fundraising goal of $50,000.

It is tricky to forecast if we will have snow for our VASS-A-THON this year.... so we should have back up plans.

If we are on snow at the end of Feb, it can be our ski and snowboard VASS-A-THON. But, if not, our plan is to have everyone choose their own version of the VASS-A-THON. Some ideas for your freestyle 'A-THON' could include anything you can do repetitions of:

  • laps of a race track or ice rink
  • cycling around the block
  • hiking a path
  • going up and down stairs
  • swimming laps
  • drawing
  • dog walking
  • reading
  • hola-hooping
  • anything else you can dream up

As a group, we will have a TRACK event for those that want to walk, run or wheel around a track with some VASS friends. Feb 25, 1-3pm. Location to be announced soon.

Set up your own pledge page online to make it easy to share via email or social media. To set up your personal VASS-A-THON page now, please click here to jump to our website. You will find all the directions and a video to help you along.

Thank you to all that help VASS reach its goals and help us grow for another 50 years.

THANK TO ALL OF OUR INSTRUCTORS FOR COMPLETING YOUR SAFE SPORT TRAINING

This year, we asked all of our VASS Volunteer instructors to complete SAFE SPORT training to raise awareness around maltreatment in sport. VASS is the first CADS organization in Canada to have all 528 volunteers who have been on working on snow, complete this training. I am so very proud of you for making a commitment to keep our community safe and taking action to prevent all forms of maltreatment in sport.

Thank You

James Peters
