A Message from the
CEO/Executive Director
|
On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff at GWRCCC I would like to wish you and your organization a Happy New Year!
I am so excited about the prospects and opportunities for 2024 and beyond. The nation and region are experiencing unprecedented investments in clean energy, transportation, environmental and sustainability initiatives that will improve our climate and create new businesses and jobs.
Last year, GWRCCC was able to support our members and stakeholders in securing over $200 million in public and private sector funding for clean energy and transportation projects. We must do more in 2024 to help drive investments so that the region can reduce its Greenhouse Gases and emissions by greater numbers
Together we can reach a cleaner and better future by advocating for legislative and policy changes that align with our priorities; rapidly deploying more vehicle retrofitting technology and repowering existing medium and heavy-duty vehicles that drag down our environmental goals and negatively impact public health.
GWRCCC has a robust agenda that includes opening a new office and expanding services into Baltimore, Maryland. I ask that you continue to be a member, stakeholder, and champion as we build clean cities and communities for all.
Sincerely,
Antoine M. Thompson
CEO/Executive Director

Environmental and Climate Justice Community Change Grant Program
The Environmental and Climate Justice Community Change Grant program (Community Change Grants), created by the Inflation Reduction Act, offers an unprecedented $2 billion in grants under this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). The Community Change Grants will fund community-driven projects that address climate challenges and reduce pollution while strengthening communities through thoughtful implementation. This historic level of support will enable communities and their partners to overcome longstanding environmental challenges and implement meaningful solutions to meet community needs now and for generations to come. There will be two tracks of funding under this opportunity. Track I will fund approximately 150 large, transformational community-driven investment grants of $10 million - $20 million. Track II will fund approximately 20 meaningful engagement grants of $1 million - $3 million. Grants cannot exceed 3-years in duration. Learn more here.

Colaborativo40
Collaborativo40 is a pioneering initiative that works to connect its partners to resources, technical assistance, partnerships, and opportunities, so they are prepared to take advantage of the Justice40 Initiative. We ensure that the increasingly marginalized Latino/a/e community is not skipped over and to provide the resources to make President Biden's historic Justice40 commitment successful for all “disadvantaged communities,” not just those that have been the most well-funded. Biofuels are a part of America’s clean-energy future
The Dec. 16 news article on the Treasury Department’s guidance for the 40B Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) tax credit, “Biden administration plans tax credits for ‘sustainable aviation fuels,’” described the important role U.S. farmers will play in decarbonizing air travel. All that U.S. farmers and biofuel producers are asking for is the chance to compete in the sustainable aviation fuel market and to contribute to a lower-carbon economy. Read the rest of this article.
