A Message from the
Executive Director
|
The first half of the year is completed but we have 6 more months to make an impact locally, regionally, and nationally on the adoption of alternative fuels, climate solutions, clean energy and transportation jobs, and environmental equity and justice.

Charles Brown is an intern at the Greater Washington Region Clean Cities Coalition. He is a rising Sophomore at Xavier University of Louisiana studying Business with a concentration in Sales and Marketing. Charles hopes to help GWRCCC reach its goal by promoting its services and core values to the public. Charles enjoys playing basketball, playing the piano, and photography in his free time.

Jesse Casey is an intern at the Greater Washington Region Clean Cities Coalition. He is an undergraduate student at the University of California, Santa Barbara majoring in Environmental Studies. Jesse hopes to work with bio economy based plastic degradation, and biofuel refineries in the future. When in California he can be found at local community climate actions and planting native vegetation. Growing up in the Southern California area Jesse has grown fond of the local environment, and bases his work on helping protect these areas for the enjoyment of future generations. He enjoys rock climbing, and exploring the DC area in his free time.

Teresa Doley finished her A.S in Environmental Policy and A.S in Mathematics from Montgomery College and is in the process of transferring to a 4-year university. She hopes to create a strong foundation in computational methods and statistical analysis to become an expert in creating data-driven solutions to social issues such as climate change and its disproportionate impact on communities of color. In her free time, she enjoys cooking with local and seasonal produce as well as hiking with her friends. She is supporting the GWRCCC team by assisting with the alternative fuels pricing report and other data analytics work.

John Lucas is an intern at the Greater Washington Region Clean Cities Coalition for the summer of 2022. He is an undergraduate student at the University of California, Santa Barbara and is studying political science. He plans to attend graduate school upon graduation and hopes to work in policy advocacy afterwards that advances the cause of a safer and healthier world and environment. Hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area, he has a deep appreciation for local histories and communities, and, in DC, can often be found exploring new areas of the city or furiously reading through news about the government.

Isabella Puchkova is an intern at the Greater Washington Region Clean Cities Coalition. She is a rising-third year at UC Santa Barbara studying Environmental Science and Chinese. Growing up in the Bay Area, California, Isabella saw firsthand how urbanization affects marginalized communities and the natural environment. She advocates for increased accessibility of public transportation and for funding research in renewable energy development. At UCSB, Isabella interns at a coastal ecology lab and designs the website for a native bee conservation organization. When she is out of the GWRCCC office, Isabella enjoys hiking and art, and interns part-time for the Department of Energy.

Khadijah Shaw is a Maryland native. She graduated from Prince George’s County public schools in 2018. She is currently attending Bowie State University where she plans to graduate in 2023 with her Bachelor of Science in biology.

Reconnection Communities Pilot Program
|
|
The Department of Energy's (DOE) Loan Programs Office (LPO) as $17.7 billion in loan authority to support the manufacture of eligible light-duty vehicles and qualifying components under the ATVM, authorized by the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007. Read DOE's two-page fact sheet for an overview of how LPO can finance auto manufacturing projects here.

As part of its University Transportation Centers (UTC) program, the USDOT is seeking applications from universities for up to 35 UTC awards, with total funding of $450 million from 2022 through 2026. Only U.S. non-profit institutions of higher education are eligible to apply or to be members of a proposed UTC consortium. This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is open now through August 25th, 2022.

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law of 2021 authorizes EPA to offer rebates to replace existing school buses with clean and zero-emission models. The program guidance and application process differ from prior EPA school bus rebate programs in many ways, so please review the summary of program requirements here before proceeding. Applications are due on August 19th, 2022.
