I would like to thank our Board of Directors, members, sponsors, all attendees and awardees of the GWRCCC Annual Conference and Awards Luncheon, held in October at the Homewood Suites in Largo, Maryland. The event was a huge success! Together, we will continue to advance low to zero carbon fuels, implement and deploy transportation technologies that improve our environment, save lives, and create good paying jobs, locally, regionally and nationally.


GWRCCC is working on our 5-Year Strategic Plan, please take a few minutes of your time to complete the survey. We truly value your recommendations and suggestions. Your input will help GWRCCC continue to grow and meet new opportunities in the future.

Op-Ed: Reducing Negative Health Impacts from Transportation on Communities of Color



When discussing the ongoing climate crisis, I often hear the proverbial phrase, “we are all in this together.” However, the data on air pollution in conjunction with public health risks suggests we are not, in fact, “all in this together.”


Nationwide, there is an environmental justice disparity between White and African American citizens. What is the root cause? Air pollution from diesel in the transportation sector. School and city buses, trash trucks, 18-wheelers, and off-road construction vehicles, are among the many fluxes of emissions from the transportation sector. Studies show, 60% of California’s52% of DC’s and 20% of New York State’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are from diesel combustion engines...

Press Release: GWRCCC Established Community Energy & Environmental Justice & Inclusion (CEEJI) Advisory Group


The Greater Washington Region Clean Cities Coalition (GWRCCC) is proud to announce the formation of the Community Energy & Environmental Justice & Inclusion (CEEJI) Advisory Group. The CEEJI Advisory Group will meet monthly with the first meeting occurring on November 15 at 1 PM.


Composed of influential community leaders, environmental activists, and public servants, the CEEJI Advisory Group is dedicated to addressing environmental disparities and advancing equity in the Greater Washington region.

Curbside Electric Free Curbside Charger From Montgomery County Energy

Are you struggling to find a place to charge your EV? If you live in Montgomery County and park your EV on the street, overnight – Curbside Electric wants to hear from you. Curbside Electric is working with the County to pilot their innovative curbside chargers. If you drive an EV (or will soon purchase one), and do not have access to dedicated off-street parking, sign up for more information on getting a charger installed outside your residence. Curbside Electric will fund the installation and hardware for your charging needs.

2023 Clean School Bus (CSB) Rebates Program:

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law of 2021 authorizes EPA to offer rebates to replace existing school buses with clean and zero-emission (ZE) models. The 2023 Clean School Bus (CSB) Rebates process includes SAM.gov account registration, rebate application submission, review and selection by EPA, selectees will then submit purchase orders to request payment and then receive payment, which is followed by new bus delivery, existing bus replacement, and project close out.

Electric Vehicle Charger Reliability and Accessibility Accelerator

The Electric Vehicle Charger Reliability and Accessibility Accelerator is making up to $100 million available for this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). Applications must be submitted electronically through Grants.gov no later than 11:59 p.m., Eastern Time, on November 13, 2023 (the "application deadline"). Applicants are encouraged to submit applications in advance of the application deadline; however, applications will not be evaluated, and awards will not be made, until after the application deadline.

$20 Million For Thriving Communities


The Department of Transportation is accepting applications for its FY 2023

Thriving Communities Program (TCP). The program will provide up to $22 million in funding for Capacity Builders to provide technical assistance, planning and capacity-building support to disadvantaged and under-resourced communities across the U.S. to help them advance the transformative transportation projects needed to thrive.

Federal EV Tax Credits


The IRS has issued new guidance on electric vehicle (EV) tax credits for 2023.

 

Manufacturers and Models for New Qualified Clean Vehicles Purchased in 2023 or After

If you bought and placed in service a new qualified plug-in electric vehicle (EV) or fuel cell vehicle (FCV) on January 1, 2023 or later and meet certain income limitations, you may be eligible for a clean vehicle tax credit up to $7,500.

 

Credits for New Clean Vehicles Purchased in 2023 or After

If you buy a new plug-in electric vehicle (EV) or fuel cell vehicle (FCV) in 2023 or after, you may qualify for a clean vehicle tax credit. Find out if you qualify.

Alternative Fuels Tax Credits and Grants


New tax credits and grants have been released for alternative fuels by the Federal government and are available online at the U.S. Department of Energy's Alternative Fuels Data Center. Tax credits for biofuels, electric vehicles and related infrastructure are included. Grants include port electrification programs under the EPA.

US EPA's Community, Equity & Resiliency initiative


The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the launch of the Community, Equity & Resiliency initiative, a groundbreaking effort to help communities across the nation navigate EPA’s Inflation Reduction Act investments and other new funding opportunities made possible by President Biden’s Investing in America agenda. Through this new initiative, EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation and Office of Environmental Justice and External Civil Rights will facilitate community-driven partnerships and provide a space for communities to learn, connect, and cultivate ideas on how to access the historic resources, especially in low-income and disadvantaged communities.


A Virtual Open House will be held on Nov. 6 - 14.
