Happy New Year!
The final strains of Auld Lang Syne are still floating into the atmosphere as I write these first words of happiness and hope for 2022. January is a special month because it is the only time of the year when our thoughts bounce back and forth between reflection and restless anticipation wondering what awaits us in the year ahead.
Anticipation is the perfect word to set the stage for what we have in store for you at The Automobile Gallery & Event Center in 2022. Beginning next month, the Gallery Newsletter and my monthly Steering Column will feature a fresh new look with more photos, more people and more of everything you, our faithful subscribers, want to see and read.
Because we are dedicated to presenting The Automobile is the Art, I hope you were able to visit us in 2021 and drink in the breathtaking special displays featuring automobiles of all eras and makes. Rest assured more fresh and fabulous displays are on their way in 2022!

January 1st, The Automobile Gallery & Event Center celebrated our 7th birthday and we’re celebrating by giving you all the presents! Along with other special events along the way, our 5th annual Cars & Guitars will be held June 18th and is to be bigger and better than last year’s record-breaking event when we hosted nearly 400 vehicles and thousands of visitors. Speaking of presents, we are going to be celebrating another wonderful birthday in conjunction with Cars & Guitars. Stay tuned for that great news next month!
We’re all about telling great stories here at The Automobile Gallery. Thank you for being part of our story for the past 7 years and for all you do to make the dream of our great Founder Red Lewis live on! I wish you a heartfelt Happy New Year!

Mike Paul 1955 Dodge Custom Royal
The Automobile Gallery was honored to host the “Royal” family in the month of December. Mike Paul, from Franklin, WI, whose 1955 Dodge Custom Royal is on permanent display at the Gallery was joined by family members from all over the state of Wisconsin to celebrate the arrival of “Stella” with a wonderful cake in her honor. We invite you to visit the Gallery to see how Stella got her name and why the 1955 Dodge Custom Royal played an important role in the introduction of Fabulous Fins of the 50s!

Pit Crew Member
of the Month:
Andy Baker
We’re proud to introduce a new feature this month, Pit Crew Member of the Month which gives us an opportunity to introduce you to the wonderful volunteers who make The Automobile Gallery & Event Center GO!!!!!!
It’s fitting that Andy Baker is our Pit Crew Member of the Month for January since Andy celebrates his birthday on the 21st of this month. Andy was introduced to The Automobile Gallery two years ago by his friend George Yursis, who leads our fantastic vehicle maintenance team. Andy came to “hang out” with the guys and fell in love with the Gallery from the moment he walked in. Andy loves cleaning and detailing our Gallery collection and keeping every vehicle meticulously maintained.
In addition to keeping our vehicles in perfect condition, Andy and his wife Lori are also the proud owners of a 1971 Dodge Demon custom which can often be seen on display, as well as a 2021 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack. Andy and his wife Lori live in De Pere, WI and have 2 grown children.

The first speeding ticket issued was on January 28, 1896 in Kent, England.
Walter Arnold was driving four times over the posted speed limit at 8mph and was stopped by the constable who gave chase on his bicycle. Though the speed limit was later changed to 14mph that same year, Arnold was fined a shilling, though he could have avoided the citation had he provided someone in front of him to wave a red flag to warn others of his approach at said excessive speed.
Walter Arnold was one of the sons of William Arnold & Sons Company, which later became the Arnold Motor Carriage Company in 1896. The company was licensed to build Benz automobiles in the United Kingdom in 1895 and Arnold was driving one of these vehicles at the time of this incident.

A very special thank you goes out to those generous donors who participated in the Toys for Tots program for the fourth consecutive year!
Admission tickets were given in exchange for the donation of a new, unwrapped toy.
We are sure the faces of the children who received these toys lit up in joy during this season of giving. Thank you for your participation in this great community event!
