Health Notice: Suspected Norovirus Outbreak at UUC | |
This weekend, following a large teen event, multiple participants reported gastrointestinal illness. UUC has been in contact with Public Health–Seattle & King County to conduct a collaborative investigation and response plan... UUC closed the church on Monday and Tuesday. Staff have been hard at work cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, Nathan Johnson Hall, Knatvold, and other rooms, as well as arts and crafts supplies, to prevent any further spread. [Continue reading]

Dialogue Group: The Awakening Spirit Adhocracy

Come meet with a member of UUC's Awakening Spirit Adhocracy to learn about what this team does. The volunteer leaders of this team work with the Director of Ministries to consider, implement, and guide programs to support UUC's mission to "Awaken spirit...," focusing on adults of all ages. Programs include UU history & theology, discerning vocation (calling), spiritual practices, and spiritual direction—coaching or companioning for the spiritual journey. For example, they have helped run the congregation’s Reflection Groups on various books. [Continue reading]

Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Exhibit
Opens Sunday, October 27, 1–3 p.m. in the UUC chapel

Adults and families are invited to the grand opening of an exhibit of Chinese calligraphy and paintings on Sunday, October 27, 1–3 pm, in the UUC chapel. Artists will demonstrate and discuss traditional Chinese calligraphy and painting techniques; practice works will be given away to those in attendance. Artists will also prepare Chinese painting cards inscribed with an individual’s name in both Chinese and English. A raffle will be held, and the winner will receive a copy of the book Selected Works of Chinese Painting, by Hongduan Yang and his students. [Continue reading]

Dialogue Circles: Letter to the Congregation

At the beginning of the church year, a member of our congregation, Ali Masood, shared a letter about his experiences at UUC as a member of color. He wrote about the dominant culture of UUC, the ways that systems of racism and privilege show up in our midst, asking a number of questions about who we are called to be. You are invited to come to a Dialogue Circle to reflect on this letter, the questions it leaves you with, and how you feel called to respond. Teen Feed: There’s Still Time to Contribute | |
October’s Second Sunday Plate Collection benefits Teen Feed. Your generosity funds UUC’s Meal Team and its partnership with Teen Feed for over 20 years. In particular, these funds cover expenses for groceries and supplies for UUC’s crew to prepare and serve 18 meals each year. With about 1,000 homeless teens in King County, the need is great. Transition Team Begins Its Work | |
With the retirement of the Rev. Jon Luopa this past June, and the arrival of Rev. Doug Wadkins in August as our two-year Interim Minister, we have begun a new phase for our church. As part of this process, the Board of Trustees has appointed a Transition Team of church members to be of assistance and support to Rev. Wadkins and the congregation as we move into a time of exploration of our future. [Continue reading]

Care Team Asks "How Can We Help You?" | |
The UUC Care Team serves people in the UUC community when they encounter illness, grief, medical events, and other life issues. We all need a little help sometimes. If you find yourself needing a listening ear or a little help, please email the Care Team or leave a message on our confidential voicemail at (206) 454-7722. We are trained lay volunteers. We check for messages twice daily and keep your information confidential.

Current health safety protocols at UUC: Facemasks are optional but welcomed, especially while singing. For the well-being of everyone in our community, please STAY HOME if you have cold or flu-like symptoms, even if you're sure it’s "just a cold."
UUC monitors Public Health – Seattle & King County COVID-19 data dashboards and advisories, updating our health safety protocols accordingly. We also consult CDC About COVID-19 resources to inform our decisions. We additionally track Washington State Department of Public Health Resources and Recommendations for Business and Workers for guidance around COVID-19 safeguards for staff and visitors.
Please continue to check in at a kiosk or on the paper sign-in sheet when entering the building. This helps us better understand attendance on Sundays and for programs and meetings throughout the week. If you would like to be added to our email list for church-wide announcements, please include your email address and phone number on the paper sign-in sheet.
