Who Has the Right Answer?
A research study into LEGO SERIOUS PLAY conducted by a group from Azusa Pacific University (USA), looked more into "I see what you mean" dialogue and found that one of the major benefits of using the LEGO SERIOUS PLAY method is its power to facilitate perspective-taking (and perspective-changing) and make the process transparent by transforming ideas and concepts into physical artifacts.

Wikipedia: Perspective-taking is the act of perceiving a situation or understanding a concept from an alternative point of view, such as that of another individual. There is a vast amount of scientific literature that has looked at perspective-taking and suggests that it is crucial to human development, and that it may lead to a variety of beneficial outcomes. Perspective-taking is related to other theories and concepts including theory of mind and empathy.
Perspective-Taking Power is in the Model
The easiest way to see the other person's perspective and understand you are both right is to switch places. This switching place feature is part of the power of the LEGO model. Workshop participants can actually move from one seat to another, literally or figuratively, to have the aha experience of being able to say "I now see what you mean".

Perspective-taking is a popular topic and the benefits and strategies for implementation are summarized in a number of magazines and journals including Psychology Today. Advice on how to actually alter one’s perspective is mostly theoretical. One has to imagine another’s point of view. The process of building a tangible model and having the model-builder explain his or her perspective is tangible, substantive and makes all the difference. Suddenly the other’s perspective is concrete, you can touch it, feel it, ask questions about it and switch seats to sit if front of it. It has a reality outside both the builder and the other team members. It has to be psychologically and emotionally integrated rather than ignored.
Change In Perspective Can Change Your World View
In the Azusa study, interviews of participants in the LEGO SERIOUS PLAY workshop revealed that organizational cultures - before the LSP workshop - were viewed as being “solo driven”. Once awareness of the other was enhanced by making their perspectives transparent, empathy emerged and participants began to reference a collaborative view.

Researchers heard stories of how engagement with the LEGO bricks to build an idea or concept externally of oneself led to deeper learning and perspective-taking in individual participants. Words like “enlightening”, “helpful” and “mutual respect” were used to describe how they now view the other members of their team.

It is challenging to open your mind to new ideas and to admit that you were wrong or that your understanding and vision may have been limited. LSP opens a door to making this possible for everyone without finger-pointing or judgement, but rather through an evolution of empathic understanding that forms the foundation for true collaboration.

Best Regards.
