Learning in the 21st century is all about communication and connectedness.
To coincide with the opening of their new library, a space designed to with the 21st century learning philosophies in mind, Loreto Principal Dr Susan Stevens has initiated an exciting new tutoring program, the Mandeville Mentors. On Mondays to Thursdays until 7pm, Loreto Toorak students are offered tutoring services, at no extra cost to parents. The tutors wear academic gowns and are employed from the ranks of past Loreto pupils. For Dr Stevens, there are no better mentors for the current students:
'Our graduates are fine role models: capable, successful young women,
who we welcome back to the School.'
The idea of gown-wearing young women patrolling the building may bring happily to mind the world of Harry Potter, but Dr Stevens is entirely serious about the program's purpose.
'This is the changing nature of education. We need to accommodate the needs of our working parents, as well as provide every opportunity to challenge
our girls to
achieve their very best as individuals.'
