Last week we gathered at Corporate Annual Partner Leidos Global Headquarters in Reston to celebrate our invaluable Champions - our volunteers. The evening was a testament to their unwavering dedication and remarkable contributions to our mission.
Board Chair Sumeet Shrivastava took the stage to welcome everyone and recognize our outstanding Presidential Service Volunteer winners. These individuals embody the true spirit of service, having selflessly dedicated over 100 hours in 2023 to support our mission.
Maureen Waterston, Leidos Chief Human Resources Officer, shared words of welcome and spoke of Leido's long-standing commitment to inspiring STEM learning in the region with the Science Center. Executive Director Nene Spivy paid special tributes to lifelong champions of the organization – VA Delegate Ken Plum, and VA Senator Janet Howell. Several regional community leaders were present to show support and appreciation of all of our volunteers’ efforts.
The program ended with personal testimonies from our Youth Advisory Board Co-Chairs, Alex Rios and Sarasi Rout. As we reflect on this celebration, we are inspired by the dedication of our volunteers. Their unwavering support propels us closer to our goal of building a world-class science center accessible to all.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in honoring these exceptional individuals. Together, we continue to pave the way for a future enriched by curiosity, exploration, and scientific discovery.
