Attention parents: The Gilbert School wants you to help us with screening students for Coronavirus symptoms. Please screen your children before you send them to school! If they display ANY symptoms, please keep them home!

Remote and hybrid learning will be part of this semester. We anticipate there may be some technological glitches. However, we will work on any solutions to any disruption to remote learning. We ask that you please be patient with us as we go through this unusual opening of school!

The Gilbert School fully intends to deliver the best education to our students in this school year!

Interim Guidance for the Use of Face Coverings in Schools during COVID-19
Universal source control, or the wearing of face coverings (masks) that completely cover the nose and mouth at all times by everyone when in public or any time a person is within 6 feet of someone not living in their household, has been the most important mitigation strategy implemented during the current COVID-19 pandemic. Interim Guidance for Responding to COVID-19
Scenarios in Connecticut School Districts
The Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) and State Department of Public Health (DPH) have collaborated to provide school districts with guidance and protocols for responding to specific COVID-19 scenarios that may occur with school reopening for the 2020–21 school year. This guidance complements the Containment Plan (p. 23) requirement of Adapt, Advance, Achieve: Connecticut’s Plan to Learn and Grow Together, which instructs school districts to develop written protocols for containment and immediate response related to symptoms of, diagnosis of, or exposure to the virus. Public Health Indicators on COVID19 Data
Pulled from data.ct.gov and represent 7 day rolling average of cases (confirmed and suspected) as calculated by the daily data reported by towns to the Connecticut Department of Public Health. As of this week, Winchester is in "orange" - which means that the number of COVID-19 cases in town favors moving to hybrid learning. Click here to read the full story.

Main elevator being repaired
Due to circumstances beyond our control, the school building's main elevator is not functioning. It is continuing to be repaired and we are hoping the repair project will be completed soon.

The Gilbert School will be contacting families who have children who are dependant on the elevator to work out virtual teaching arrangements for the beginning of the school year.

Roof repair project
A roof repair project for the school building is ongoing. Work on the project will continue while classes are in session next week. The project was originally scheduled to be finished before the new school year, but was delayed due to the storm and power outage in August. The project will be completed after the first week of school.
