The proposed increase was part of a school district budget collaboratively worked on by Winchester Superintendent of Schools Melony Brady-Shanley and Gilbert School Superintendent Anthony Serio.
Instead, the school budget was hit with a $240,000 deficit.
In response, both the school district and Gilbert agreed to a “shared pain” where Gilbert will take a $120,000 hit to its budget.
