A message from Superintendent Serio

A school is a building that has four walls and tomorrow inside. Beginning on March 13, we were denied the opportunity to be in our building educating our students, but we still have tomorrow waiting for all of us in The Gilbert School. The American Academy of Pediatricians has provided significant evidence that students should be back in school for their social and emotional health. They also present the fact that young children are less likely to be infected or may not be carriers that will pass on COVID-19 to adults.

Gilbert still putting together reopening plans
The Gilbert School is continuing to work on plans for reopening safely for the fall semester. These plans were reviewed at the meeting of the W.L. School Corporation on Wednesday, July 15.

A letter to parents
Dear Parents/Guardians:
As we prepare for the upcoming academic school year, it is important that we gather the most up-to-date information. Please answer the following three questions and return to The Gilbert School, 200 Williams Avenue, Winsted, CT 06098 by Friday, July 24, 2020.
For your convenience, if you are unable to mail the questionnaire to the school, there will be a box outside the school labeled “Parent Questionnaire”.
Thank you for your cooperation,
Susan O. Sojka
Principal

Factsheets for young adults

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has produced a series of factsheets for young adults, ages 15-21. The factsheets cover a variety of topics, including what test results mean, how to stay safe at the pool or beach, how to wear a face covering and other preventive measures.
